How truly fanatic are you about Apple?
Well?
Me, hmmm, I've owned about a dozen Macs over the years, I have an iPod, I bought Final Cut Express (great app btw). I have iBook, Cube, and iPod posters hanging up (next to one of Apple's great blue store bags), and subscribe to MacAddict. I also have switched about 20 people, and have ditched Palm Desktop for Apple's new suite of stuff (which syncs with my iPod, Palm and BT phone). Oh yeah, and I advocate Macs without any relent wherever I go.
How 'bout you?
To be equal you have to add or subtract. And I have never liked math. People who want to be equal's lives are filled with subtractions and auditions. We will call you back and tell you. - MM

Re: How truly fanatic are you about Apple?
Hmmm, that's a toughie. We have had a total of 5 Macs, 1 PC, 2 or 3 C64's, 1 C128, an Adam Computer,uh.... wait, you said Macs. Of the Macs, the iMac 400 DVSE and the iBook 600MHz (combo) are mine. Yes, so is the iPod (love that thing).
I suppose that makes me quite the fanatic (perhaps a bit on the low end of the spectrum). I must say, however, that as long as Apple continues to exist, I'll always have one of their machines in my home. I'm waiting, however, for their new chip before I bite again, but that's another 700 topics on this forum....

Re: How truly fanatic are you about Apple?
I currently own two Macs, a Wall Street PowerBook and a dual G4, and the G4 has an Apple brand monitor. I visit the web site every day. I have two Apple posters on my walls, both panoramics of a Cinema display and a G4. I never miss an opportunity to lord it over some Windows dweeb when their computer is giving them trouble. I go see every keynote at my local Apple Store. I was also there for opening day, the release of OSX 10.1, and Jaguar. In any case where Apple makes an application that does something I need(the iApps, Safari, Final Cut, etc), I preferentially use their products.

I attempt to control the computer purchasing of every school I am in contact with (about 4). (I don't try to stop them from buying Windows but make sure that they are getting some Macs.) I also give free tech support to the computers they have.

Re: How truly fanatic are you about Apple?
I own about 3 (in use) G3s and am planning to get a new PB soon. I have all the Switch commercials (and the new ones) saved onto my HD. I am pretty much constantly on my computer (whenever I'm not working). I go to 4 Macintosh forums and all the others I flagrantly boast that I'm a proud Mac user. And I have all the MacAddicts since issue 1 and MacWorld's since... well, early on.

Re: How truly fanatic are you about Apple?
I think we ALL love our Macs if we're posting here.
Personally my first computer was an Macintosh SE, then Mac II, and (*gasp!) a Windows-based machine.
After just two years, I begged my parents to go back to Apple. Wish granted, I now have a 17-inch iMac and 10GB iPod. With a 17-inch PowerBook to join the family soon.

Also, I have 3 macs, subscribe to macaddict, and was there at the grand opening in palo alto.

Re: How truly fanatic are you about Apple?
I have an iBook and a 233 beige G3. At work I've talked them into buying two new G4's. I visit MacAddict nearly everyday. I've gone to Cupertino on two of my vacations. I always have my Apple pen that I bought from the Company Store. I wear my black Apple hat. My 2 year old son has a blue Apple shirt and my newborn has a white with red Apple onesie. I try not to be too obnozious with PC users but sometimes I remind them about my Mac when they are reformating their hard drive again because of a virus.

!!!
so when you get the money will you have a mod change your name to "theuserformerlyknownasSoontobeaMacAddict"? if so will you use your ridiculously long name for good? or awesome?
me?
first mac was a LC with system 6. before that we had an Apple II. I installed system 7 just so I could play Marathon.
then in high school I got my 6500. so I could play the games of the Marathon Trilogy Box Set.
then in college I got this sweet Pismo. where I put a Marathon desktop. this piece will last me the next year and a half nicely.
over winter break I spent a night downloading the 10.2.3 update over dialup. then spent a morning watching the keynote. wow it looks better over broadband.
I always notice the macs in movies and tv, though I refrain from mentioning it to anyone but my girlfriend (who saw the iSub in AI and thought it was hilarious?). she somewhat understands
I visit these forums multiple times daily. In one month I'm almost back to the number of posts I had at the old forums (slightly diff name) gathered through 3 years. wow
I visit Apple mainly for the trailers, although I used to visit daily for the hot news.
Basically, instead of doing the work that I should be right now I'm posting about how crazy I am.
I think my favorite part is when you I stopped being insulted by Win users and letting them (roommates) notice the cool things I've got.
fanatic? quietly. I don't go in all the apple apparel, though I do have a decal on my bumper. one of the rainbow ones. I'm old school

Re: How truly fanatic are you about Apple?
I used to be much more of a fanatic but I still am somewhat...
My family has owned 4 Macs. I have a PowerMac G3 with an Apple moitor and an iPod (but it broke
)
Apple is the only company I will actually buy software from.
I have a couple posters in my room.
I cut out every Apple magazine advertisement I see.
I have a box full of Apple related pamphlets, printouts, ads, etc
I watch the ads and point out hardware in movies/TV shows
I've downloaded nearly every Apple ad or movie realted to Apple.
I watch every keynote and go to all the MWSFs
I switched my friend from PCs to Macs

Re: How truly fanatic are you about Apple?
I have made a pilgrimage to the Mother Ship in Cupertino.
I bought an original Mac on eBay.
I have bought one of every 68K machine that was at the purchasing warehouse here.
I bought G3s from the purchasing warehouse for my high school.
I've grabbed various old Mac hardware and software things from school even if I'll never see or use them again. I did find an Apple II "Red Book" operating manual, though.
I got a dead PB 180 from a teacher and restored it (but it's dead again now).
I point out when people refer to something working on "a computer" when it's for Windows only.
I spent hours prepping IIGSs to sell on eBay.
I wrote my Hist 488 20-page essay about Apple.
I pull old Macworlds from the recycling bin.
I cut out Apple stories in newspapers and magazines.
I make many statements about Microsoft being evil.
My mom and I both fight to keep the high school computer lab Mac. (She's the teacher.) Unfortunately, there is a program that refurbishes white trash PCs for schools and the "technology coordinator" (who my mom could beat in about any tech competition) is keen on getting them instead of even old Macs. I've heard the junior high is going to PC.
And my elementary had one of the first computer labs in the state, 27 Apple IIe's, so I got to love them early - but the one at home didn't hurt either.
Other than that, no, I'm not a fanatic.
If I knew what I was doing, I wouldn't be here.

Re: How truly fanatic are you about Apple?
I have a 17" iMac I recently got. My neighbor is borrowing it, his wife left and took the computer.
I had an Apple IIe in HS (1985), then a performa. I switched to PC's with Win95 and a Pentium 75 in the early 90's and once I started building my own I never considered a Mac until OSX... X got me "Mac courious".
The iMac is ok, I was expecting more though, after all the ranting & raving I'd read & heard.. turns out it's just another computer. It does that same things my PC's do, just slower. But since I custom build and sell PC's my PC's are top quality, so it's not a fair comparison.
I'd need a dual 1.25 to make a more fair comparison, but the iMac is a start. I am ordering that yellow dog Linux PPc MB to run OSX on, I may even sell them as Mac like clones if the profit is there.
Honestly I get the same "it's not Windows" feeling using Mandrake, and I don't get why people love Macs. But people don't get my being a rabid NHL fan, so it all evens out in the end.
