Folding & Folding-related software

THREAD CLOSED as stuff is becoming obsolete.

JUNE 2008
=====================================

Folding Clients -- the main Stanford download page
http://folding.stanford.edu/download.html

EDIT:  this one appears to be obsolete:

FAHManager
http://www.themcdonalds.net/richard/sof … ager.shtml
FAHManager is a simple program that controls and displays the status of one or two Mac OS X command-line (console mode) processes running Stanford's Folding@Home distributed computing client for protein folding.

InCrease
http://calxalot.homeip.net/InCrease/
InCrease is a a nice program for monitoring, configuring, and controlling the Folding@home command-line client.   Works for Intel Macs !

It's beta Folding for multi-core Macs and Linux boxes  http://folding.stanford.edu/FAQ-SMP.html        eek

I think this is the Intel version of Folding that many of us have been waiting for.

Re: Folding & Folding-related software

Yeah, not only is it optimized for the Intel Macs, they will also get to run at 200% on the core duo's!

Re: Folding & Folding-related software

Here is my Quick Fold installer for the Intel SMP beta.

Edit: this may not be of any use, since there is now an installer provide by Stanford on the download page.

Re: Folding & Folding-related software

At this point, I'm still not sure which is better for individual users:  QuickFold or InCrease.     The next time I install Folding, I'll use Quickfold and see how it goes.  I may have had bad luck with Stanford servers on my current iMac.

Does InCrease help your numbers? I'm just using the command-line apps I d/l'ed straight from Stanford.

No, it won't. InCrease is simply an installer/manager for the same f@h client that you downloaded from Stanford.

Re: Folding & Folding-related software

It doesn't InCrease your numbers, but it does InCrease your view of the numbers! I find InCrease to be a very handy utility. Thanks go to Kevin Bernhagen of TeamMacOSX. smile
