goofy war3 in os9

i have an 800mhz imac 17" 32ddr gForce4mx.

in os9, it runs really well on what settings? i mean, it's so smooth most of the time, only when a huge battle comes around does it really slow down. however, at times it is so choppy for a couple seconds i can barely move the mouse. has anyone else hit this? if so, how do i fix it? recommendations on extension sets to help speed?

i tried turning everything way down, and it runs about the same as everything turned up. just big battles differ slightly. but still, there is that darn super-slowdown sometimes. just a few seconds of uber-chopping.

i like this game. i wanna get as much out of it as i can. and these huge momentary slowdowns kill me! i reinstalled and have the latest version. on my ibook, it's slower overall, but never experiences these super slowdowns.

help please?!
-thanks

In OS9 I always tried no extensions first.  I rebooted with my finger on the shift key until the splash screen displayed.  Launch the game and see what it needs to run, many times it will complain about what extension(s) it is/are missing.

Max out the RAM! twisted It should give you a nice FPS boost.

and do we know why the performance differs so much between osx and ox9? i mean, lets admit it- it's like day and night.

Re: goofy war3 in os9

I think it's because War3 was optimized for OS 9 better than it was for OS X.
