Is there a reliable utility with which you can safely overclock the ATi Radeon 9600? Please do tell, b/c I wan to squeeze the last drop of life out of this card so maybe I could play Doom 3 with it!

I don't know if it will work with the 9600 but ATIcellerator II worked with my Radeon 8500, a Radeon PCI and the Rage128 in Mom's iMac.
Patience is a virtue of the weak for it makes them stand still long enough for the strong to crush them with ease.

Doom 3 works fine with my 9600, but I have a 2Ghz Athlon, so your mileage may vary.
Before you risk frying your card, have you tried a demo?
edit:: stupid question, there is no macOS demo, or a mac version at all.
With a dual 1.8Ghz G5, I think you'll be okay.

Last I checked that ATI Accelerator II was patched for the OEM 9600. Should work. If you see weird screen artifacts then you clocked too high so just clock it down till you find the sweet spot.

Re: Overclocking 9600 Pro OEM
I have been itching to try that, My borthers 400mhz Imac has a Rage 128 8mb, but I haven't bothered to upgrade it to panther becaue the DVD drive ramdomly scratches disks (probabley firmware).
I am trying to pull the rom off of my Nividea GFORCE 4MX in my powerbook, the program I am trying which runs from the term won't work, I think I might have the wrong version. I have a program to modify Nividea Roms, but it wont flash them for you, you have to pull them and then update them from a terminal app. I think this is the predcessor to ATI Accelerator.
