Apple in danger?
how big is the threat that Apple may end up going out of business? i mean, i love apple, i love my macs, and i wouldnt use anything else... but i also follow Apple news, and they have lost market share in like, every niche they HAD it in, and the switch campaign hasn't even been bringing in Windows users by the hundreds like everyone wanted. and then their stock went down last week, they reported a net loss in profits...
how real is the possibility that Apple might go out of business? if its not that big of an issue yet, what are they doing to pull themselves out? does it look good?
im just a mac user whos just very concerned about this possibility... hehe

Re: Apple in danger?
They'd be bought out if they do go out of business, and someone else would probably continue making the Mac OS. No worries.

If everyone in the entire mac addict community combines their money we might be able to buy Apple!

As others in forums have said -- it is about as likely as Volkswagen going out of business.

Why is it that people always equate small market share with failure? Geez...

Re: Apple in danger?
As much as i have liked apple in the past(i have actually ben a mac user for 17 years), apple deserve to go out of business-any company that sells three year old technology as current at premium prices deserve to go out of business- it's just blatant robbery and cheating of consumers. If the situation did get really bad then i can imagine bill gates would buy apple so that they can use every feature out of the mac os-remember when amiga went out of business and microsoft bought a whole lot of stuff from them (bars and pipes was but one).
I'm not surprised about the switch campaign-many people are happy with windows and don't care for a glitch or two-they just look at apple as a massive ripoff-my friend is currently doing a degree in oesteopathy and has been using a pentium 100 since he bought it new when it came out, he recently wanted to update slightly and absolutely refused to consider a mac-his girlfriend who is a qualified chiropractor (on a massive 100 000$ wage) also refused to consider macs for her business.People don't want macs-apple should have had this campaign years ago before windows took over so much, it's far too late now

I have a job, thank you. I have paid off all loans, thank you. I owe nobody money, and have not gotten any hand outs.
Help me mr. governdment, please sent me da moneys.
Notice I didn't defend Apple, most of my posts are in unplugged. I just linked to your posts and showed that all your posts start out with "I own every type of mac, I'm a mac head for 17 years... but <insert troll>"
I'll let the people decide. I'm glad to see I'm the one with the 10 year old mentality, yet you start the grade school name calling saying I'm on welfare. As such, I have wasted too much time on you already.
Sorry about your thread hollisterd. Have a good day everyone (yes, you too macwaynekerr).

Re: Apple in danger?
Fact is i have been using macs since age 11(a mac plus when it was a current machine)- i simply have much more experience on the platform than many many many here.Someone with such a massive post count could not possibly have a job-i'm sorry but if you do have a job then your boss should see what you are doing-posting here instead of working-you must have a lot of time on your hands-and i think you are defending apple like crazy-who else would be so concerned about pseudo-trolling?

Re: Apple in danger?
You guys want to think of something really frightening?
What if Apple were bought out by Microsoft?
I think I'd write the board and all the key players in Apple and beg them to commit suicide as an act of defiance. Just think of the pain and anguish that kind of merger would cause... the very earthly-capitalist incarnation of evil taking over the most insanely great cult following there ever was.
I know this wouldn't happen, but damn, now I'm depressed. BTW, as others have said here, Apple's not going anywhere. Their stock might not be the best investment, but they're not going anywhere if only because of their obscenely loyal customer base and massive cash reserves.

How do you know how much experience with macs people have here? And what does having a job have to do with it?
