Nope, just the ones who buy expensive cars, then act like snooty asses about it.

I have read that she will be back on the job by next week, if not sooner. We all know they do a thankless job. I understand the benefits and job security are great, but the pay is not that hot. As I mentioned at the outset, you may contest a parking ticket, if you feel you didn't deserve it, but they are rarely dismissed. A city of Cambridge Meter Maid once told me that once they set pen to paper, they must finish writing the ticket, and they may not simply "tear it up and forget it" without a supervisor's approval, as the tickets are accounted for.

My wife and I are looking to buy a house and there are quite a few near my job in our price range and in good neighborhoods. I'll be able to walk to work, which means I can sell my car. And if it's a little to far, I can always buy a motor scooter, which doesn't require a motorcycle license if it can't go over 60.
It'll be awesome.
The car of the future is a train with a bike waiting at the other end.

Mini is the brand, Cooper is the model.
I'd rather be less safe on a motorcycle than drive a pod around.
But I hate most cars so don't mind me.
Are there any hummer owners here?

Equivalence is in the eye of the beholder. Both achieve substantially better fuel efficiency than ye olde Hummer.

His trial is supposed to begin later in February. It will be interesting to see what hat-trick his lawyer will pull. A favorite among defense lawyers of people accused of something like this is to get a continuance, followed by another, and another.
By the time the nitwit actually gets to trial, the case will probably have become "diluted" by time.
This is sort within the same topic: A link to an interesting news item that concerns young males and their SUV's. I don't know about their figures. It seems to me that it's suburban mommy types who are the most deadly with an SUV, but I may be wrong. Males may have the "nobody tells ME what to Do!" attitude, but when they come up against the mommy, in her SUV, and the object is a parking space near the door of the mall or grocery store, I'd put my money on mommy.
Am I being too cynical?

yep. NEVER get between 'mommy' (defined as tiny(or big fat ugly)) women and whatever they have set their SUV sights on! YOU WILL LOOSE!
males in a SUV know they can still get their ass kicked.
a 'mommy' doesn't have this concern, usually.

Re: Hummer owners wonder why no one likes them...
It's funny how most of you self-righteous bigots suddenly think less of people you've never even met just because of the car they drive. I'm not talking about the stupid guy in the article, I'm talking about all the other Hummer owners in the world that most of you just generalized as insecure, mean-spirited, snobs. I know three Hummer owners. None of them are like that. In fact, all three sit on our church board. They just happen to be some of the most dedicated, self-starting business owners I know who have become successful in their jobs through years of hard work. But still, if any of you saw them driving on the road, you would hate their guts just because of the vehicle they are sitting in.

for the record, some of the snobbiest, self-righteouse, insecure, closed-minded folks you'll meet 'sit on boards' of one church or another. usually the truely good and decent folks aren't heard from very much.
kinda like that guy that drives by in a non-descript car, quiet, minding his own buisiness, and not trying to impress folks with something as silly as a horseless carraige.

Sure, but have you ever been in the car behind them? How 'christian' is their driving?
This has to be the funniest thing I read today, though. Being on a church board is about as pertinent to driving habits as satanism is pertinent to being French. For that matter, driving habits are often as not totally unrelated to anything else about a person. Non. smurfing. Sequiter.
Most people are okay people, but when they get behind the wheel, they are still human. When your car is twice as long and half again as wide as a Honda, accelerates poorly and brakes worse, you CANNOT afford to be a thoughtless driver - in fact, as 'safe' as you might think your vehicle to be, you have to be even more careful. Compared to some trucks, when I'm driving my little saturn, my sense of positioning and my peripheral vision operate in the same way they would if I had... idunno... a backpack glued to my butt. It's an extension of me, rather than an object I have to consciously think about controlling.
To sum up:
SUV drivers who aren't paying attention are dangerous people who are taking my life into their hands, and I don't appreciate.
SUV drivers who are paying attention (I've met exactly three) are unfairly stereotyped. Live with it or buy a Honda.

So is it a habit of yours to make such blazing generalizations about people you haven't met? Some would call that prejudice.

Not once did I equate them being on the board to them driving well. I never even brought up how well they drive. I simply pointed out that most of you in here would be prejudice against them just because of the car they are in without even knowing who they are.
Let me put this to you in a way that you may understand better:
NEW THREAD TOPIC:
"Black punks wonder why no one likes them..."
First post:
"They walk around in their baggy pants and oversized jackets. You just know they're up to no good just looking for trouble."
Aqua OSX could write:
"I'm not surprised. Nothing says "self centered" or "I don't care for your well being" like a black punk in baggy pants and an oversized Raiders Jacket.".
Maybe SonicSamuri could respond with this:
"Because they are overcompensating asswipes who cant even keep their pants up that they paid $100 for. A small fortune here, which, it turns out, could also be used to feed the poor and disadvantaged, provide help to tsunami victims, or even just buy 10 copies of "Love and Basketball."
Macnuke might have an idea:
"Maybe he could sue for the emotinal pain and suffering of not being able to take his oversized, overpriced, "see my big donkey pants making up for my lttle tiny pecker" wardrobe around in the style it was meant for."
Laughinol could make a comment like:
"He was wearing <my pee pee is small, so i'll make up with this largish masculine wardrobe of urban disdaine> 'pants' which is completely nothing more than a marketer's wet dream.
Novocainuser could possibly chime in with:
"There are exceptions to every rule............."
Implying of course that the rule is that Black punks with baggy pants are just out looking for trouble.
I took actual quotes from these people and just switched the target of their ill-will from "Hummer drivers" to "blacks with baggy pants." Suddenly it sounds bigoted and racist doesn't it.
Any of you "open-minded" enough to see what you did?
