What Speakers do you use or enjoy?
I am purchasing a set of speakers and wanted to gain an insight on what you have on your desk and if you enjoy them? I felt your honest opinions would be more valuable. Searching for a quality set that wouldn't make my banker shout too loud.

Re: What Speakers do you use or enjoy?
I have Creative Labs's THX certified MegaWorks S700. Although the PC is currently hooked up, I'm just going to connect to 1/8th mini on the Mac Mini to one of the 1/4 inputs on the breakout box and take advantage of the existing 5.1 goodness.

Re: What Speakers do you use or enjoy?
I have a set of OEM Harmon/Kardon speakers that came with my Acer back in 1998. The same speakers Dell was using a couple years ago. (Though theirs were black. Mine are *shudder* beige..) They work fine still even though they're 7 years old. I'd love to get some nicer ones to go with my Mac mini when I get it. Any recommendations for cheap, but GOOD LOOKING speakers? Preferably powered by the computer.

Re: What Speakers do you use or enjoy?
I use a set of Creative I-Trigue 2.1 speakers. The sound is pretty good, but the subwoofer is too boomy.
They're a good buy, just don't turn up the sub too much.

Re: What Speakers do you use or enjoy?
I use the Companion 3 system from Bose. They are not cheap, but they are VERY nice looking (silver, so they go very well with Apple products). Unfortunately, they do require external power, but they sound amazing. And it's unbelieveble how loud one can get the bass to go using the speaker's controls in conjunction with iTunes's EQ setting

Re: What Speakers do you use or enjoy?
Well, if you can settle for Stereo, I recomend the EV Sonic XS 2.1 speakers with all my heart.
Wery nice sound, and very powerfull. (60W per speaker, and 125W sub.)
They do look like mini versions of concert speakers though (like smurf).
If surround sound is your game, then I have heard a lot of good things about the Logitech Z680 setup.
A 5.1 setup that also works out of the box with G5s (if you get teh optional optic cable)
Good reviews:

Please, dont buy speakers becuase the ylook cool, buy the ones that you feel sound best!

Klipsch Promedia 2.1 system. The black ones that don't look weird. $150 from best buy and they are damn good speakers. Possibly the best 2.1 for that price.

I use Yamaha 5.1 home theatre system with 250 watts four channel tower sides 200 watt sub and 120 bookshelf surround seakers powered by 100 wat per channell Kenwood receiver connected to comp by tos link
that gives me glass shattering experience which I really enjoy.

Hercules XPS 210
$40 2.1 system.. pretty good sound.. way better than my tv's speakers, so I even use them for watching movies. I don't think they still sell them though, but this shows you don't really have to spend $150 or more for a set of decent speakers

Re: What Speakers do you use or enjoy?

These and a Sony surround sound receiver plus an M-Audio Transit USB with the digital audio output (sounds noticeably better than internal analog output, but M-Audio's drivers are pure garbage).

Re: What Speakers do you use or enjoy?
Another vote for the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers. They're capable of an insanely high volume with no distortion. I'm not a huge audiophile, but these speakers seem to offer a much "fuller" sound then the huge sub/tiny tweeter setups that are so common. Simply awesome!

I use a mini to rca adapter, and feed it into my stereo receiver, using the CD input.
My speakers are from Pioneer.

Re: What Speakers do you use or enjoy?
I have a pair of Logitech Z3i hooked up to my mini via the headphone jack, they are pretty nice for the $65 I paid for them. They are a replacement for a set of Klipsch 2.1s that took a surge and were out of warranty, the Klipsch were better but these are pretty decent for music playback and light gaming.

Bose Companion speakers. They kick ass. There's a Bose store right next to the Apple Store... very deadly indeed.

In my office I use my old JVC pro logic receiver and Pioneer dorm shaker towers. In the living room I've got my slimp3 plugged into a 600W Pioneer receiver and Infinity all around.

Re: What Speakers do you use or enjoy?
Tivoli Audio stereo setup plus bass speaker. It's actually an analog AM/FM tuner with one speaker in it, and a matching speaker-only identical box for stereo. Not much of a high-volume performer but the sound quality for the price is very true. Other speakers tend to have false sounding bass or thin high frequencies. Not so with these.
