UT2K4 vs MMOs

Nice read, fits my feelings well.

I love RPGs, dungeon crawling, exploring and giving life/depth to a character you created. I started my gaming life with a pencil, paper and a fist full of dice. I just can't bring my self to playing $10-15 a month additional, not for one game. Xbox Live averages less than $5 a month, with that one gets to play dozens of games.

I don't know... I really wanna try it, but if I'm having this much trouble talking myself into it. I can't imagine the task ahead of me when I hit the wife up about it. wink

Re: UT2K4 vs MMOs

Well... think of it this way...

$15 will get you:

1 medium pizza with a few toppings (30 minutes)

1 night at the movies with the wife, no food. (2 hours)

1 month to play World of Warcraft (720 hours)

Skip one pizza a month and try WoW big_smile.

P.S. on the wife issue... do what I did... I got my wife hooked on WoW too wink

Re: UT2K4 vs MMOs

1) I'd have to get the wife to even go near a video game.
2) 720 hours of WoW!?! What you offering to pay my mortgage, heath insurance on a family of four and feed us.
3) $15 for a night at the movies...I wish! The evening ticket around here is $10, ntm the babysitter. I can't get to the movies for less than $50. That's why I'd rather just wait and buy the DVD.
4) My Wife makes excellent homemade pizza. Once it a great while we order it out. Honestly if WoW is full of asses, I just may like the pizza better. wink

I have a another large side project due in the next 4-6 weeks. When I get the check from that I'll get WoW and a years sub. I just hope I'm not too late and fall behind the lvl pack.

Re: UT2K4 vs MMOs

That's 720 hours of avalabliity to play WoW tongue

Most people in WoW are quite nice. Usually the rudest people you will come across are people from the opposite faction (Horde/Alliance) and really, that's to be expected. Though I admit I turned off general chat on day 1, that was more for the fact that it made guild chat easier to read (without the excess text).

As for falling behind the level curve... It's extreamly easy to level up in WoW. I'm probably the lowest leveled character in the guild who started the first day and plays on a regular basis. I'm level 50 out of 60. Leveling can be very fast if you put your mind to it.

Plus most of us start up alternate characters on a regular basis (I have 2 that I play, level 12 and level 14) so there will almost always be someone to play with.
