G5 fan cycling with Boinc
My New Dual G5's fan cycled all the time while seti@home was running. I thought that I read somewhere that Boinc didn't cause it to do that. So, I shut down the old seti, installed Boinc and the fan still cycles (only when Boinc is running)...damned annoying! 10 seconds on 5 seconds off 5 on 5 off 10 on 5 off etc
So my question is, does this affect your G5 the same way?
I may just have to stop contributing untill this is solved.

Re: G5 fan cycling with Boinc
Hi - there is, iirc, a firmware update that may alleviate that problem. You might also consider restricting SETI to either 1 of the two CPUs or to 50% CPU utilisation, since the fans are temperature controlled.
If you can move the computer to a colder room, that might help, too.
