Maybe the antenna lead is not connected to the back of the case where your new antenna is connected.
I think this is a job for the Apple Techs. You have put way to much effort into a very simple job. Something is not right and it is up to Apple service to determine how to fix it.

I am a new mac user and considering buying a wireless router also. But I found that Linksys WRT54g is not compatible with mac OS. Is that true. In that case, I fear you made a wrong choice buying Linksys.
