Re: 10.3.8 issues
No problems here. I have two hard drives with my OS on them, so if the update was frigged, I'd still have my old one. But it's been a coupla days and no weirdness, old B&W G3 with G4 upgrade.
If you look around the table and can't tell who the sucker is, it's you.

It's funny because I updated 4 machines (all were updated to 10.3.7):
iMac G3 - 16 megs
G4 Quicksilver - 16 megs
G5 1.6 - 24 megs
eMac 1.25 - 24 megs
Intel iMac / 10.4.8 (at home)
G5 1.6 / 10.3.8 (work)
G4 Dual 1.25 / 10.3.8 (work)
eMac 1.25 / 10.3.8 (work)

Re: 10.3.8 issues
My dad's G4 Quicksilver had a 16MB upgrade from Software Update. I noticed this was kinda odd. It has experienced no problems yet that I have noticed. I'm going to wait to update my 12" PowerBook. However, when I look at the update in Software Update, it shows a 27.7MB update.

No problems whatsoever on my end, 1.2GHz iBook 14", 768 MB, Epson C82
Well, it actually did kill uControl, but i only had to disable an option not supported by the new kernel, and rebuild, and it worked.

Quite. One reason for my PowerBook being 'third party system altering' software free. Didn't anyone else figure this out at 10.2.3?
then whats a computer good for?
Getting my work done after an update, while everyone else is trying to figure out why their's doesn't work no more.
Plus, I really haven't the time to go beyond the simple and necessary stuff that Apple recommends.

When software update came up for me BOTH a 27.7MB install and a 16MB install - both called 10.3.8, with the exact same info text were available. I installed both and have had no problems yet. Both the console log and the installed updates list in the Software Update Preference Panel list both installs as well.

Re: 10.3.8 issues
I can't seem to run either UT2k3 (Full version) or even the Demo of 2004. Quake III, EF, and Halo seem fine.
Reboot didn't help. I think I also ran repair permisions as I always do after I update.
Still nothing. The app just stops bouncing after the splash screen comes up and quits without any error.
HELP. I have a 20" Cinema display on loan for a bit and really want to see it on that thing>

Re: 10.3.8 issues
I've never used a computer game controller that's as good as an old console controller like the SNES', let alone one that's a good as a modern controller like the PlayStation's. Even the NES controller is better than crap like the iShock II.
I hate playing action games with emulation because there isn't even one decent controller on the market.
there's really no need for all of this

Re: 10.3.8 issues
10.3.8 is fine here. No speedups. No slowdowns. No runaway log files. No driver issues. All my peripherals work on both Macs.

Re: 10.3.8 issues
I'm gonna wait until after this weekend. I need to get some video work done, and if I lose these files they're gone forever. So... my Quicksilver can wait. My update window shows 16 or 17 megs though (for the download). Dad's blue G3 (upgraded to G4) shows the same size.
Maybe I'll update my PowerBook. 1Ghz 12".

I wanted to post this in a new thread so as not to hijack the update thread.
When I installed 10.3.8, I had 4GB of free space on my main drive. Within about an hour of installing the update, I was informed that my startup disk was out of free space. Confused, I deleted 7.18GB worth of old video files that I no longer needed. Maybe two hours later, I noticed that my disk space was down to 450MB. I shut down the computer and didn't start it until this morning. In the 10 minutes that I was running the computer before class, the available space went down to 114.7MB. Since I booted up after class and started writing this post, the HD has run out of space again.
Throughout this whole process, the Finder has been unexpectedly quitting and is remarkably slow. This usually happens when the computer runs out of space, so I'm sure that the two are directly related.
A search of the Finder for files created or modified in the last 2 days yields about 2,500 files. The largest file is 10MB, but it's a file that I know I created. Most of the files are 12-18kb Safari cache files. Nothing's taking up 11GB.
I'm performing a search now of folder sizes to see if any folder has unexpectedly jumped in size. As of right now, I have no idea what's causing these issues.
The Finder just unexpectedly quit. Guess I'm not performing that search. Crap.
I haven't had any problems with my Imac G5 after updating to 10.3.8. I haven't noticed any difference whatsoever, so I imagine it's working fine. I did run OnyX after the update, followed by another restart.

Re: 10.3.8 issues
I had one minor problem on my Pismo the other day. After rebooting (installed broadband optimizer) the reboot process took like 4 minutes to login screen, then another minute after that, 3 minutes till the finder started up and another 1 or 2 until my desktop appeared.
I repaired disk permissions, fired up cocktail and ran all the cron scripts. Rebooted and everything is back to normal.
I am not sure if this is a 10.3.8 issue or if it related to the program I installed. Either way my boot process is probably about 30 seconds quicker (power on to usable) than 10.3.7 was. Woot!
My hard drives have managed to remain unaffected by the problem(s) described by some people here.

My D-Link DBT-120 Bluetooth adapter is no longer talking to my Sony Ericsson T610. This wasn't a problem prior to updating to 10.3.8.
Anyone else have this issue, or know of a fix?
