Aren't Lifetime Achievement awards reserved for people that had long productive careers, not just people that had careers long ago? When was the last new Zeppelin tune? For that matter, was there a tune or was it just shreiking with guitar accompaniment?
If the same six tired old Zeppelin songs on the radio constitute achievement, God help us all. However, musical popularity and Grammy awards are often inversely proportional to quality and talent so... whatever. Please feel free to tear me to pieces because I don't like to hear high-pitched non-singing recorded on old equipment that high-pitched everything anyway.
Wow, I would hate to hear the music you like. Probably utter sh*t like WHAM.

Led Zeppelin are gods. I still get goose bumps when I hear Kashmir.

Re: Led Zeppelin gets Grammy "Lifetime Achievement Award"
I like a wide variety of stuff. Heavy metal and Irish/Scottish traditional mostly with some other stuff thrown in, including lots of classic rock. My objection to Zep is that the pitch of Plant's voice on those old recordings just really annoys me. Which is saying a lot because I like bagpipe music and the tin whistle. I'd probably like Zep more if it was recorded today, as new equipment wouldn't skew everything toward too much treble and/or not enough bass. It would certainly help. Also, the other objection was the same 4 to 6 songs on the radio constantly. It's just so boring! So, you're saying their best stuff isn't on the radio? Their best stuff isn't on iTMS... none of their stuff, if the search I just ran is right. I was hoping to list the stuff I don't like so someone could direct me to something else.

No Zep on iTMS.

If you base your opinion of Led Zeppelin on what's played on the radio God help us all.
Listen to Zep I. And bear in mind that Plant and Bonham were nineteen years old when the album was recorded. What did you do when you were nineteen? Did you happen to record one of the greatest rock albums ever? No? They did.
If you think Zeppelin is nothing but screeching and guitars you've never heard Zeppelin.
Preach it ma man!

Hell no. You would go out and buy this and this and you'd have pretty much all of the Led Zeppelin ever recorded, digitally remastered under the supervision of Jimmy Page himself. If you want all of the 10 albums arranged in order instead of mixed up in box sets, you would buy this set instead.
Then you will go out and get this DVD because it totally kicks ass and everyone should own it.
BTW, has anyone seen the "No Quarter" DVD featuring Robert Plant and Jimmy Page? With help from a new drummer and bass guitarist, they sing a selection of LZ tunes accompanied by musicians from Morocco and Egypt, as well as a large strings ensemble. The rendition of Kashmir on there is FANTASTIC, as is the Rain Song...

I'm currently listening to the most under-rated Zeppelin song of all: Bron-Y-Aur Stomp. Top notch.

its in the Caribbean.
How did the song "Black Dog" get its name?
Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet." They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew.

How did the song "Black Dog" get its name?
There was a black dog walking through the studio when LZ were recording another song. Plant named a new song after it. Or... something.

My friend got the newest Zeppelin DVD (it comes as a set of 4 DVD's) with never before seen footage this past August. I wish I remembered the name because it's insane. It shows's them jamming songs with just 20 people sitting in a circle in a gym (or something) and they look like they

I'm not really a zepplin fan, but I will definitely claim that the 'best' of pink floyd is definitely NOT on the radio, INHO.
So it's quite possible. I'd say the same for several other artists that I enjoy.

I'm happy to see Led Zep get this award. They rank about third on my list of all-time great rock bands.

The DVD is called, simply, DVD, and it's got two disks.
The reviews at Amazon are not hyperbole. It's really that good.
