Working through root
I start up holding Command + S and I'm in Single User Mode. I type in:
"
/sbin/fsck/ -y
/sbin/mount -uw /
/sbin/systemstarter
"
Things start loading. It gets to one line "Waiting for Apache web server", it's been on this same line for about 20 minutes, and previous to that I restarted and tried to do it all over. Everytime I get caught up on the "Waiting for Apache web server" though. Please help me out if you know how to bypass this so it all loads correctly in Singlue User Mode.
My problem is I cannot get past the loading web server to change the root password. Please let me know how to get rid or bypass the Apache web server.
Regards,
Stas

Re: Working through root
Might want to post this in the server forums. This is a hardware modding forum

You can try logging in as yourself, and turning off web sharing in the Sharing control panel, provided you have admin access, of course.
My hunch is that Apache tries to start as its designated user (www:www) as indicated in httpd.conf, but fails because you're booted into single user mode.
But why don't you change the root password from Terminal while logged in as yourself? Just sudo -s to root and do a passwd.
