How are SUVs not industrial vehicles?

Tell you what, you tell me how they are industrial vehicles.  Start with the Toyota RAV4, the PT Cruiser, and the Kia thing that I can't remember the name of.

An SUV is just a glorified station wagon with four wheel drive.

They serve no more an industrial purpose than a Subaru Legacy.

An SUV when it gets to over two tons is no longer something the soccer moms drive...(hell even the ones that are a 1/2 a ton they still can't drive or park correctly)

I owned a SUV almost 10 yrs ago that was 2 and 1/2 tons...it was for hauling computers around by the dozen to several school systems.  I could almost fit a VW Buggy in the back of the truck if I wanted to. that is the differences between a working SUV, and these toys people call SUVs today.

By the book, they indeed are SUVs.  That's the flaw in the system I was talking about.

Haven't you seen that commercial where the soccer mom parks that whale of a GMC between the two rows of Harleys?

The category of SUV includes everything from that Paul Hogan Subaru wagon to these monster sized trucks. It's stupid.

And i'd like to see a soccer mom with athat much control over a moster of a truck...

i had a roomate which wouldn't handle anything larger than a S10, for anything larger than that and she was terrified of parking in it...

Actually if it's a wagon, or a station wagon, it is still a large station wagon, people call it an SUV because they don't know better.

Remeber this, any SUV that is over a ton, is concidered a SUV, anything under it (kind of truck), is concidered a toy...

Well, you can make up your own idea of how to classify things all you want, but r_u was talking about the legal categories, and so was I.

Also, the commercial I was talking about isn't for, literally, a "Monster Truck," but for this really really big GMC truck with a new type of stearing (probably 4-wheel steering) designed specifically to make soccer moms comfortable driving and parking such gigantic automobiles.

None of the vehicles you mentioned are over 6000lbs, therefor they do not qualify for the tax break. Therefore we shouldnt even talk about them.

None of the vehicles you mentioned are over 6000lbs, therefor they do not qualify for the tax break. Therefore we shouldnt even talk about them.

Then what SUV is an industrial vehicle and why is it considered an industrial vehicle given the use of it espeically in comparison to pickup trucks and vans.

Guess what? Trucks and vans are included in the tax break too (if the are over 6K)

Industrial SUVs would be like the excursion and other similar sized vehicles. The military uses them all the time to move around stuff. I have also seen them at many construction sites. Heck Ford/Chevy even avertise those vehicles as perfect for businesses to move around stuff.

I agree with the farmer. You have no idea whats going on here.

This means that small businessess looking into a fleet of lighter, more fuel efficient vehicles are out of luck.

Guess what? Thats falls under a different catagory of tax exemption (business expense)

I was programing in Basic a year before Styer was born...

Although I am glad my underwear from that time no longer fits, I wouldn't mind having that much hair again on my head...

I wasn't going to, having said my piece and all, but since you asked:  I know that SUVs are used in industry, but IMO they're not as practical as other vehicles.  Besides, I'd bet the vast majority of SUVs are just used to fetched groceries.
