Re: "Greatest Generation" opposes Iraq war!

I was giving an example, it's not proven one way or another, you are making it sound as fact...I gave a hypotetical possibility, and that was it...no more, no less.

That is why I did not just leave it at Iraq, unlike you did.

Is it possible for simple discussion to occur on this board without all this laborious talk about discussion semantics?

It's incredibly tiresome.

Again...WHAT was your point???  That's all I'm trying to get to...the point.

In this case semantics were needed...

In any case...what I was saying, and still am saying is that I would be more than happy to let the world go along it's merry way if it could try for once in it's short life that humans have had on it, to stop imposing their beliefs/views/opinions on someone else, or another country...for everyone is going to be different.

But force those views on another person, either be culturally, or otherwise, then the ability of the UN should be involved...for no person, even if they live in that country should ever have opinions forced down one's gullet when it is against the majorities will...

You've contradicted yourself again.  If everyone is different, and everyone's will is different, then what does the will of the 'majority' have to do with it?  In many of these countries, the will of majority IS what goes on.  For many in THIS country, there is anger that the majority can't always rule...though it still does, in many cases.

Even against the will or culture of someone's different than the 'majority.'

Re: "Greatest Generation" opposes Iraq war!

I think you misunderstood me Cyber. I said to leave everyone else alone and NOT impose American values. That means they are free in their own countries to do whatever they want.
If they don't want women to vote, it's their country.
If they only allow 1 religion, it's their country.
Kill jaywalkers for a first offense, it's their country.
If their country wants to invade a neighboring country, then the UN steps in. Otherwise , stay the hell out of their business.

I can live with that to an extent...but if the Un gets involved the US is not going to be part of that group.

. . . yes, that would be true if the US decides to insist that it'll opt out of the UN. The US would have some say, however, if it decides to participate. Participation by the US, though, means that the US is bound by the same terms as all other participants.

Actually the US doesn't have to participate militarily if it does not want to...look at China, since when was the last time it gave troops out to help? I haven't heard of any yet.
