MacAddict Bands? Anyone have one?
Just wondering if anyone else here is in a band. I'm in a band called Through the Veil. Our website is in progress. We've been together for a while and have a poorly mixed demo from october 2003, but if you'd like to hear that or live recordings, just give me an IM. I'm on all the time. We're kind of grungy. Cover Nirvana and Alice in Chains when we need to cover things.
anyone else have a band? What's the name, what do you play?

Red Soldier.
We have been together for a year this April. My friend has been guitar and lead vocals and I drummer, but I am changing to bass and we are going to find a drummer. We are also kind of grungy but always changing.
We're also recording an EP currently.

My dad and I play stuff together on the guitar and mandolin. We call ourserves Captain Sam and the Bait Boys. Its plural because my brother was supposed to play too but he never learned an instrument.

Bonka is part of a two man "band." They're called The Pets. They have some good stuff too.

Re: MacAddict Bands? Anyone have one?
We'e been together (3 of us anyway) since September 2000, and with our lead guitarist since May 2003. We changed our name from Revenant to Through the Veil last month. Still working on the new website as I've already said.
We're in the process of recording new material as well. Going into the studio (mac based, yay!) on the 11th I think. Recording some new stuff, re-recording some old stuff so we can get a better mix. If anyone wants to hear us, I'll link to our song Gem, which sounds the least smurf out of all of them. Me on vocals and rhythm guitar which you can't always hear because we didnt finish mixing.

I'm in a "band". We've got 2 guitar players, and a bass player. No drums. We call ourselves Drinking Practice cuz that's basically what we do. I've been thinking about starting a side project and actually write/play.

Re: MacAddict Bands? Anyone have one?
I do most of my own stuff, thanks to Garage Band, so I guess I'm a one-man band. I play guitar and bass, and some keys, and use Drums on Demand for my percussion.
On MacJams, I have teamed up with some talented musicians to do some songs, so that's sort of a virtual band thing there.

zerocool90 is in a metal band called "DeLorean", which rocks my socks off.
I've dones a few independent projects on guitar, but have never published anything, nor performed in any venue other than the youth center I work at.

Re: MacAddict Bands? Anyone have one?
I used to be in a band called "White Johnny and the Spine Poodles".
I used to listen to alternative radio, and some of the stuff I heard on there was hysterical nonsense (we're talking REAL alternative-screaming to a drum beat for 3 minutes for example).
I wrote 3 songs to prove I could do better than scream to a beat for 3 minutes, entered it into a radio contest, and we got in the final 12 out of 109 bands, so I had to suddenly form a band, we did, and got our butts kicked by a pop rock band.
We did have a cool jazz-like song called The Cow Song. Full of puns about cows (think "Gary Larsen"). Also had a song about The Flintstones, and my favorite "nuclear war"-a post holocaust love ditty culminating in an audience sing along.
Oh, and Lisa's A Sorority Girl was a hit with our fans.
Ah, such memories...

Re: MacAddict Bands? Anyone have one?
Been in several bands, the last one was Fury for Another, we put out a record on Smorgasbord Records ("X Marks the Spot" comp, Hatebreed's 1st 7") back a few years ago, produced by Brian McTernan (Strike Anywhere, Cave In, Thrice).
I also have a project I am working on thats in a sort of Swiz/ Dag Nasty/ Absolution/ Sonic Youth meets Metallica (circa Master of Puppets) tossed in a blender.

Sounds fun. Previews would be appreciated.
Here's a taste from our Christmas album that's planned for fall release... though our lead (and, on this song, only) vocal is gone... so... for better or worse:

Re: MacAddict Bands? Anyone have one?
I'm in a band. We play five or six nights per week on the Strip in Las Vegas, depending upon where we're playing. We've been at the Paris Hotel/Casino for about the past six months, and will be there for a total of nine or ten months this year. When we're not at the Paris we play at Harrah's, The Rio, The Venetian, The Aladdin, Luxor, MGM (though they've demolished the room we played in, so I doubt we'll be back there any time soon), or Excalibur. We're generally booked between 48 and 50 weeks a year.
It's a very, very cool job to have, but, unfortunately, it's often still a job.

Re: MacAddict Bands? Anyone have one?
I can proudly say I am in the laziest, most unmotivated band ever.
We've been together for 2 and a half years, and we have yet to name ourselves.
By default, I refer to us as Fill Kolllignyetts (pronounced Phil Collins, of course).
Oh, and, ivanjs, I have The Cow Song on my iPod
