Re: iLife delayed
3MB dl, 512k ul, $40 CDN a month.
...
I'm in Ontario... I have a feeling you are talking to someone else so I'll stop talking now...Cable in Canada totally rocks, which might make up for the fact that you are buried in snow for like 11 months of the year.
<looks outside> Funny... I don't see any snow even right now... ok, that little bit left on the lawn that you can see the grass though
sorry, second pic is blurry b/c of prolonged exposure and shaky hands...

Re: iLife delayed
Your download speed : 1207182 bps, or 1207 kbps.
A 147.3 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 125293 bps, or 125 kbps.
I think its about $50 a month, not sure since I get a lot of other services through cable too.
Your download speed : 2615306 bps, or 2615 kbps.
A 307 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 365764 bps, or 365 kbps.
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!
There we go, on a test server in CA from Ontario... and you pay $50 US for that Lofty?
That doesn't even match a DSL line for $25 CDN a month.

Don't think it's going to be available for download until the 31st either. Not to get this topic back on track or anything

Re: iLife delayed
i get 1.5Mb/sec down and 128Kb/sec up....
thats like 16 KB upstream... for $65/month
Thats a terrible price, I pay $39 in michigan...
its the charter "platinum" rate.... all of their plans have 128Kbps caps on the upload stream.... which totally sucks..... the "basic" plan is 256down/128 up, the "gold" plan is seven hundred something down/ 128 up
and the "platinum" is 1.5Mb/sec down, 128Kbps up.....
its a complete rip off, but i have a small network and if charter figured that out, they could charge me an extra $10, so i dont complain... almost never down(3 times in 2 years and they credited me for the downtime)...

Re: iLife delayed
I frankly can't understand why the download is delayed if it's just an issue with the CD???
Could they believe having the download available earlier would stop people from buying the package?

Re: iLife delayed
http://www.Thinksecret.com is reporting that is because of new hardware releases. But I still don't grasp why I can't have my download this weekend. I know it's just a week delay, but it is a delay. If they said Jan 31st initially I would be fine with that. Damn you Apple for making me want you so much!

Re: iLife delayed
in Michigan? My family lives in MI, I have been trying to get them on Cable, but Charter cable doesn't offer it there yet...
In what general area are you? My fam is in the Roscommon Area? don't suppose that is near you...
It's Oakland County and the cable company is WideOpenWest. Their prices are better than comcast on every service, if we didnt already have directTV we would get their digital cable.

It's WOW's top connection, they have 1.5/256 for $39, 500/256 for $35, and 256/128(i think) for $29.

Re: iLife delayed
Well, my order from the Apple online store says it will ship by Feb 5th at the latest. It has said that since I placed the order shortly after it was announced (for the iDVD update
). Guess they want some wiggle room to push the release back even further...
It's all about the Hamiltons, baby.

Re: iLife delayed
iLife will eventually make it's way out, but the reasons floating around for the delay seem a bit odd. Is Apple waiting for a software update for Jaguar? Is Apple waiting for their new hardware to be announced? Are they waiting for a big superbowl ad? You'd think they'd know when their own products are going to be released. This, coupled with the suggestion that the pricing for iLife was in question four days before MWSF, leaves one with the impression that no one is actually in charge over at Apple. Are departments not communicating with eachother? This sort of thing often indicates turmoil and rancor in the boardroom.
It's not a movie.
