Wireless network security - need some!

Ok, so I've loved wireless networking ever since i paid too much for Linksys equipment to connect my no longer existant PeeCee's!  Now I've done two things... moved to the better side (Mac) and moved into an apartment.  Problem is, with the PeeCee's there was a ton of options to protect myself against people trying to wirelessly access my 'puter, now that I am in an apartment (where I've already found a couple of wireless networks)  I need to know how to bullet proof my ibook and my wife's powerbook.

We're both on OSX and feel that we're guarded well from the internet just worried about people hitting us from the inside.  Also want to secure communications between our laptops.  I've already put MAC filtering on the AP and made sure that the DHCP server only allows the minimum number of clients.  I have yet to use WEP, but I've read that over time that can be defeated.  If any of you think thats enough please let me know.

I know this is a little on the paranoid side but we're both transporting and sharing highly sensitive information from our employers and are liable if someone were to get any of it.

The simplest thing to do would be to turn off filesharing when you don't need it on your machines.

I would enable wep unless you are on a linksys AP, WEP had a tendancy to kill their througput by up to 50%.  WEP is your best answer to securing your AP short of plugging a cable direcly into it smile
Anyway, most Wardrivers are not looking to crack networks for data, they want free internet access, if you have wep enabled or other MAC address locked out they will most likley go to an easier source.

If the "weak keys" of WEP are a bother and you have Orinoco-compatible cards there is a fix. Go to www.uglybugger.org/source-enterasys2orinoco.php3
and do what it says. I have started re-flashing mine and it takes a minute or so per card.
