Keep talking, Jeff Gannon, White House correspondent

Jeff Gannon on what a woman needs

Jeff Gannon just won't go away, and who wants him to, really? His blog is a new must-read -- one-stop-shopping for all things Gannongate and so much more. If you click over right now, for example, you might catch Jim/Jeff explaining what ails Maureen Dowd. His prognosis: The New York Times columnist is a "gal who probably needs a bit of the old Jeff Gannon to relieve some of that pent-up whatever."

And when you're done with everything Gannon has to offer -- and really, we don't want to think about what "everything" means in this context -- you might head over to fishbowlDC, where blogger Garrett Graff is putting the lie to the argument that just anyone could have gotten White House day passes like Gannon did. The short version of the story: Graff is moving on to Day Three of his attempts, and he hasn't exactly seen Scott McClellan yet.

The more he talks, the more Gannon becomes cannon fodder.   It almost rhymes.  wink

So the White House is claiming he just randomly got in?

Gannon's White House accreditation under a false name ... Iraqi WMD intelligence ... surprise attack on 9/11 despite warnings ...

My favorite pundit had some choice words for the issue, and I quote the best of 'em:

"So now liberals are lashing out at the gays. Two weeks ago, The New York Times turned over half of its op-ed page to outing gays with some connection to Republicans. There is no principled or intellectual basis for these outings. Conservatives don't want gays to die; we just don't want to transform the Pentagon into the Office of Gay Studies. By contrast, liberals say: "We love gay people! Gay people are awesome! Being gay is awesome! Gay marriage is awesome! Gay cartoon characters are awesome! And if you don't agree with us, we'll punish you by telling everyone that you're gay!" In addition to an attack on a Web site reporter for supposedly operating a gay escort service and thereby cutting into the business of the Village Voice, another Times op-ed article the same day gratuitously outed the children of prominent conservatives. These are not public figures. No one knows who they are apart from their famous parents. I didn't even know most of these conservatives had children until the Times outed them. Liberals can't even cite their usual "hypocrisy" fig leaf to justify the public outings of conservatives' family members. No outsider can know what goes on inside a family, but according to the public version of one family matter being leered over by liberals, a prominent conservative threw his daughter out of the house when he found out she was gay. Stipulating for purposes of argument that that's the whole story

Ann Coulter is certainly disconnected enough from reality to claim that "Liberals" are now "attacking gays".

Uh, as usual Annie the Cokehead LIES again. Here's the actual NY Times op-ed:

The Gay Child Left Behind

For the life of me I don't see how you can "out" someone who's a gay hooker with ads sprinkled all over the internet (Gannon/Guckert), or someone who's already outed themselves (Mary Cheney, Maya Keyes, Jamiel Terry). Not that it's unusual for Annie to just make smurf up -- she's built her "literary" career out of it.

Not that Camp David read the referenced article in the NY Times either.

I did bedstuy, did you? Can you answer a question with a yes/no answer?

Did the New York Times ask permission of Maya Keyes before it ran its story?

If the aim of the article was to simply "out" a homosexual.... yes! It shouldn't have run the article at all, but we all know whose side the Times is on!

Re: Keep talking, Jeff Gannon, White House correspondent

I think it's interesting, campy, how anyone can claim that reporting that Guckert's having been a gay escort is somehow either motivated by hatred or an invasion of his privacy.

The vetting proceedure for the white house press corps would certainly have turned up something, and there are some opinions that the administration liked it that they had serious dirt on Guckert. . . just in case they needed to jettison him. . .

I, personally, find the entire thing funny, and it's a pity that the humorous aspects are offset by the serious problem with the current administration and it's associations with members of the alleged "press" who werer/are on it's payroll for PR purposes. . . of whom Guckert was one.

She's already "out."  You can't "out" an "out" lesbian.  What's your IQ again?

When Maya Keyes has an article in the Advocate with her girlfriend and says "I'm queer, get used to it." I'd say that's a confession.

Now defend Ann some more for us.  It's amusing.  Bottom line for the Grand Ole Party (or is that Gay Ole Party??? where's Ken Mehlman?):  if your gay and wanna play with us STAY IN THE CLOSET!!!

Fortunately that doesn't seem to be the case:

[BIG BIG LETTERS]But there was one bright spot this week. On Monday, Maya Keyes, the daughter of Alan Keyes, officially declared herself a lesbian at a gay rights rally in Annapolis, Md.[/BIG BIG LETTERS]

How can the Times have "outed" someone who had already declared themselves gay, in public, at a gay rally a week prior AND had done interviews for the national gay mags already?

Your grasp of reality is vastly exaggerated.

So to recap, no one was "outed" - you simply cannot "out" someone who's already made a point of telling people.

Edit: Damn! Beaten by the one-handed typist!

Re: Keep talking, Jeff Gannon, White House correspondent

Does anyone seriously believe that Gannukert is actually writing this himself?  Just because it's the same URL and promoted as being the same person (whoever that really is), what is there to prove that this is anything more than another attempt by the GOP spin machine to infiltrate the independent media?

Not saying Gannon isn't a baffoon, but Dowd has odd OpEds at times; and her recent one had this West Coaster wondering if she's been hanging out in the wrong circles in Manhattan without getting out to see how us middle Americans live.

shrug

Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim.  Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet."  They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew.
