The new issue of MacDirectory has a nice piece on David Lynch, his love of Macs, and how he uses them in his movies. Anyone who is a fan of his movies should pick up a copy.

Lynch is cool but too many people act like him...or at least try to. You've see them around, the stuffy, up-crust, art student sipping mocha latte caramel fucenchino. It's really annoying. Plus, they're usually using PC laptops. Lynch would not approve.

I've never been a fan of his. I respect him for doing his own thing, but for crying out loud, it doesn't hurt to make sense once in awhile!

I'd like to see Lynch star in and produce a switch ad! big_smile

Mulholland Drive was a bit of a disappointment to me as well (with the exception of some fine scenes with the ladies wink ). I was really enjoying it up till the the night club, where the story got all wack.

I'd have to say Wild at Heart and Blue Velvet are my two favorite Lynch films.

The "Science Fiction Channel" version is so much better that I have blocked my memory of the Lynch thing except for the Eno music.

People have been pompous, pretentious asses for thousands of years now. How can you blame or connect Lynch with that?

Besides which, from everything I've read, Lynch is not at all a scenemaker, much more a normal person but with some really bizarre quirks and obsessions.

Sci-fi showed the extended Lynch verison last night. It's much better than the version that was released in theatres. If I could only afford to get a Dazzle or Formac studio, I'd burn that smurf onto DVD.

I dig Lynch's Dune (and his other flicks!), I liked the Sci-FI version better, but it was a much longer format, and it borrowed from some established things from the Lynch version...

I just didn't like a lot of the actors in the Sci-Fi version, but I am looking forward to thier sequel...

I thought the music in Dune was by Toto...

Anyway, I just wanted to write in defence of Lynch's Dune, and Lynch in general... smile

Toto also had some music, but I think the majority was by Brian Eno, in spite of Toto's prominent title.

I agree, there were some actors I would have done without. I think the best four were for the Stilgar, Chani, Paul, the Fremen Reverend Mother characters. The miscast ones were mainly the Fenring character and Duke Leto.

They guy who played Duke Leto is a great actor who played the U-Boat captain in Das Boot, one of my favorite movies.

I lost a lot of repect for Lynch after he pretty much admitted that he was making Twin Peaks up as he went along. Instead of all the odd pieces not fitting together because it's a tiny part of a really cool, really complex story, now it's just a bunch of stuff that happened. Hell, I could come up with that.

Yeah, I never really got into Twin peaks, but a ot of people rave... Is that form the DVD? or did you read it some where?

In it's way as disturbing as anything from Lynch, but quite sensible. big_smile

Eraserhead is a definate headtrip of a movie. It's been a long time since I've seen it, but it certainly had some unforgettable scenes!
