Uses for Dead iPod parts!

Right, my iPod got, erm, submerged, and shorted out.  It's dead, Jim, no question.  I've got the new one on order.

However, since I had nothing better to do, I took the sucker apart to take a looksie and...well, the Toshiba 10 gig drive has little visible corrosion, and the two year old battery seems be alright, surprisingly.  (The rest is toasted.)

Any suggestions on what I might be able to with the hard drive?  I mean, 10 Gigs is 10 Gigs.  And an older third-gen battery that may or may not work?

I can pay you shipping for it. And mount it on my wall as art alongside a Moto v60t Colour that got ran over by a car.

You could try selling those on ebay.  There's people that would love to get working parts to fix their dead iPods.

That's right. I was just offered money for my iPod HD, but the drive is more than likely dead. The person wanted it for another friends dead iPod drive.

was the screen toast? there seems to be a demand for those (removing it from the board is likely to damage the connector, if you aren't careful...)

Perhaps you two could continue your ideas together.

They say that the most secure computer is the one not connected to the internet.
That's why security experts recommend Telstra BigPond.
