17" i-Mac problems (major and minor)
1. DVD movies all seem to stutter, some completely freeze at some point. Apple told me that this is due to the copy protection on newer DVD's... is this true??
2. There is a single annoying bad pixel on the 17" screen... I've read that this eventualyl goes away... again... is this true?
3. Whenever the computer is put to sleep, the apeakers emit an audible "pop"... I am currently using by old Henry Koss speakers (w/sub woofer which work fine) attached to the heaphone jack, since the audion out jack seems to be a proiprietary design that does not fir standars 1/8" strereo plugs.
Is the pop normal? Could it be becuase I'm using the headphone jack?
Thanks !

Re: 17" i-Mac problems (major and minor)
I just found this on the Apple support site:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html … |162743410
Now shouldn't the Apple support human being have suggested I try these things
??
I'll let you know if this works.

Why would a G4 stutter when my G3 466 iBook doesn't. Are you sure Apple isn't screwing with ya?

My Reply (I also have a 17" G4 imac):
1. Dvd's used to stutter and skip all the time until I downloaded the 10.2.3 update....for some reason I hasn't skipped since! I don't know how the 10.2.3 update helped (I doesn't update the DVD player) but I did..TRY IT:)
2. I also have 1 bad pixel:( I don't know if it goes away...but sure hope it does/
3. I am using JBL creatures and have the same thing...also connected to headphone port. I bet it has something to do with the fact that we are using the headphone port....When I had SoundSticks (USB) never had any pops. Now I have a pop every time it goes out of sleep or mute for a minute or 2.
Signiture goes here. OOOPS!

Re: 17" i-Mac problems (major and minor)
About the dead pixel... masage it with your fingertip gently at first... if it doesnt go away, press a bit harder... massage it a bit and it should eventually go away. My friends 1Ghz PowerBook had a dead pixel on it (and she was so pissed). I massaged it for a few seconds, nothing happened.. I tried a bit later (firmer this time), and it went away...
As for the DVD stuttering... do you have the 10.2.3 update? Go into the Dock, open System Preferences, and run Software Update. 10.2.4 will be available any day now, so you might just want to hold off...
