Baldur's Gate (1)... I WANT TO RUN FAST!!!
I think I remember my brother telling me that I could edit some file on Baldur's Gate to make it so I could go fast, instead of moving at an extremely slow rate
. How would I do that? And even if I successfully changed the lines of the file or what ever how would I be able to save the file as the file type of the original document?
I use OSX if that helps. 10.3.8

Haste and Boots of Speed is all you need.
If I was your DM I'd make your character(s) die horrible painful deaths.

Re: Baldur's Gate (1)... I WANT TO RUN FAST!!!
I believe that in BG 1, if you upped the frame rate (in the .ini file) it made your characters move at an accordingly faster rate. Basically you take one step per x frames and if you up the frames per second, you're taking more steps in the same amount of time.
I could be wrong on that but I think that's the case.
If you want to cheat and make your character run at super speed, you can grab the Infinity Resource Editor and hack your characters movement rates.
The final option (for dirty cheaters) is to type "cheats=1" in your .ini file and then start up the game. Once the game is running, type ~ and you'll get a console. You can use the cheat codes (do a search). { edit: Ah.To give a character Boots of Speed, open the console and type CLUAConsole:CreateItem("BOOT01") }

For even suggesting cheating..."The Tarrasque shows up and eats your party."
Thanks for playing, guys, but I am a cruel bastard of a DM.

Re: Baldur's Gate (1)... I WANT TO RUN FAST!!!
Twisted, there's not nice way of putting it, so I'm going to put it out blatantly..
YOUR A smurfing SUPER NERD.
I just want to make my run speed the same as in BG2. I guess it could be classified as cheating but its not like I'm making a super uber party.
But anyways, how would I edit the Baldur.ini file to make it so the FPS was higher?
When I do CTRL Click, Open With, Text Edit, it only lets me save the file as a .CWK or something similar. I'm unable to make it an .ini. I did download the editor, but I have no clue on how to use it. So its pretty much useless to me unless anyone would want to explain how to me.

Re: Baldur's Gate (1)... I WANT TO RUN FAST!!!
Seriously, just look up the cheat codes and give everyone in the party Boots of Speed. It's so much easier than hacking an .ini file, and not only does it let you run faster, but you attack faster, get better AC, and so forth, without the risk of actually breaking anything. Bumping up the FPS is generally not a good idea, because it risks throwing a number of time-dependent things (such as spell durations) out of sync.
Still, as DM, I foresee a Great Wyrm Red Dragon visiting your party in the near future...

man, that brings me back to my old D&D, Shadowrun, Robotech, Gurps, Hero's Unlimited days...
really fun stuff, we had co-ed groups of like 12 people playing sometimes. that was awesome.
Patience comes to those who wait.
