InDesign CS - Objects with shadow on Pantone background
Hi folks! I could use some help with InDesign CS. There's a situation - Object with a shadow casted upon it on Pantone background. In the output, in .pdf file there's some jerky white background appears around the object's shadow. Is there anything I can do with it? When I open this file in Illustrator CS, white background transforms into Process CMYK of the Pantone background. So the question is - is there any way to solve this problem? Or maybe I should not use Pantone at all?
Thanx for any help!

What PDF version are you using for exporting? It might have something to do with flatenning.

when making the PDF use the basic PRINT or PRESS option but be sure to choose "leave unchanged" as the color conversion option under Advanced tab.
If this is only to view on screen, then use the SCREEN export option but click on the "simulate overprint" button and RGB color is OK.

It's Acrobat 5.0. And it's all about print, not to view on screen. And, EricP, don't do what? Do not use Pantone?

Try to set the version compatibility to Acrobat 4 (ODF 1.3). The default preset for Press automatically set to PDF 4 and I haven't got a problem with drop shadow. IntegraG4's suggestion can also work, to check "Simulate Overprint".

Yes, it sounds like an overprinting issue - Is ID overprinting the shadow in printed separations?
I don't know if IDCS now allows you to mix spot colours (
You may begin arguing Warnock's Dilemma now.
