New iDVD themes better, or worse.

While I definatly like the chapter marker recognition, I liked the motion menus too. Isn't there a way to do both? Other that DVD studio Pro of course.

You can only do one or the other? That is annoying... why couldn't you do both? I also thought the iLife was coming our today, the 25th... was that wrong? Was it the 27th?

Apple delayed it until the 31st. All the news sites have reported that fact and it was mentioned repetedly among the forums.

Man yes, you can do both. Motion Menus aren't new. They've been around since iDVD2, and If they have chapters well they'll have chapters no matter if its motion or what. The biggest advantage of DVD Studio Pro is the multiple audiotracks and subtitles. Thats about it.

So your chapters can have little 20 second clips of the scenes, just like to DVDs you buy?

Yup.  Everything can be in motion - in the background of your menu, the buttons on your menu, everything.

iDVD is awesome.  I personally use DVDSP because I need the multi-language features, but hey.

To be equal you have to add or subtract.  And I have never liked math.  People who want to be equal's lives are filled with subtractions and auditions.  We will call you back and tell you. - MM

I got that part. I know how iDVD works, I have it. I'm wondering how and if you can combine the two. Steve didn't show motion chapter markers. Just a table of contents that was built using the chapter markers from iMovie 3. Yes some of the themes had motion backgounds, but the ones he showed onloy had one clip in the background. None of the themes from iDVD 3 had motion chapter markers. That's why I'm wondering. I guess we won't know for sure until one of us plays with the new version.

Does iDVD 3 allow you to have buttons of different shapes on the same screen?

Does it allow more than six buttons?

Does it fix the problem where the yellow highlight sometimes affects parts of buttons or screen controls other than the selected one?

Is it better about handling discs with large numbers of slideshows and still pictures?
