TerraSoft ATX PowerPC motherboard runs Linux.
http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/products/boxer/
Wow, a cheap G3 PPC ATX motherboard that runs linux AND supports generic PC sound/video cards... apparently there's some dodgy way to get them to boot MacOS, but it seems both unsupported and discouraged.

Re: TerraSoft ATX PowerPC motherboard runs Linux.
If there is a way to put an Apple rom in them it wouldnt be dodgy, it would be outright illegal.
I believe they put it this way :
Q: Can I run Mac OS through MOL?
A: While it is technically possible, it is against the strict policies of the Apple Mac OS End-User agreement and is therefore not recommended.

$499 for just a mobo w/600MHz G3 CPU
$799 for a basic system in an ATX case.

Linux is linux...just a different distro. Really only the kerenel is linux proper. Different people package the kernel differently, i don't know the lot of it, but it just affects what libraries, apps, languages, compilers, drivers, and whatever else you get with in...at least that's what I think.

I think this http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/products/briQ/ is cooler. It fits in a drive bay...

Does DarwinPPC require a Mac ROM, or would it install on one of these boxes? :?:

Re: TerraSoft ATX PowerPC motherboard runs Linux.
This isn't exactly new.
Oh, and there is almost no difference between Red Hat and Yellow Dog. YDL is pretty much a Mac version of RH.

There is also a mac version of RedHat...or at least there used to be maybe 4 or 5 years ago. I had it installed on my 7200 for a while.
