I use to donate blood all the time when I was in highschool just so I could get out of class and pretende to be really weak the rest of the day.  It never really truely bothered me like how you described, but while I was in highschool, I weighed  174 lbs. 

Another thing that my friends and I would do is try to race on who can fill up the pint bag the fastest. We would flex and pump our arms really fast to try to get the blood going as fast as we could.  Only after we did that did I feel dizzy, but that only lasted about 5 minuntes and I would be alright again.

I've done it a lot. It feels great to give back what I won't really use (a fraction of my blood). Try checking out if your area does apheresis, which is a procedure that takes only one's platelets and plasma. It's great!

They don't take kids with high midichlorian counts... so I wasn't allowed to donate.

I can't because of the weight requirement, but I've always wanted to.

I just turned 19 so I decided it was time... I am feeling better today though!

You have a high school blood drive? We don't have that kind of thing over here, and blood donations are fairly amaturish, I know a few people who have had needles inserted in the wrong place, their blood types marked wrong etc, but it's run by volunteers so at least they're trying, eh?

I don't really like needles either, and I've only fainted after a blood test when I stood up straight after it was over. Why didn't they tell  me about that?!

But I got a chocolate biscuit out of it...so I guess it was worth it

Amateur?  The blood drives we have at my high school are run by the Red Cross.

Sounds like your blood bank needs some major reforming. Sounds like it's not entirely legal, either...

If you live near a university, you can probably give there. But then, they might not give you cool shirts. Oh well.

There is no monetary incentive to give blood (and I doubt plasma), at least where I'm from...

they give you a lot of money to donate plasma here... I think $125 everytime. But I also heard it hurts and I also heard that when the put the part they don't want back into you it's colder than all get out and painful at that. I have no desire to give plasma. I gave blood for two reasons... a) to find out my blood type b) if you donate blood they don't charge you for it at the hospital if you are injured and need a transfusion.
