old Mac ad.
Do you think this is a good ad. I do, I don't think it's perfect. but it's simple in a good way. at the end of the ad, someone that knows nothing about Macs learn something.

Re: old Mac ad.
6100 is a serious business computer? Well, in its day...... I can see it.
I think its better than the other apple ads of the mid 90's, but its nothing in comparison to the Kermit Sage iMac commercial

Nothing is worse than the "Wanna Mac" commercial. I'd link to it, but no one should have to watch that crap. If you really want to, www.theapplecollection.com has it.

I don't like that ad at all.
You basically have Apple putting a guy in a commercial that acts like the Mac is a joke computer. Once you put that on tv there are going to be a bunch of people that already have that prejudice and this commercial is just going to enforce it. One guy opening one floppy disk is not going to change their minds.

I don't think it's about changing minds, with just one ad. they need a lot of ads of the same type. showing all the little things that the Mac can do. that ad is good IMO because at that time. it showed window users that they can open floppy disks on a Mac.
having someone say there Mac is easy is one thing. showing someone is way better.

Showing that you can open a floppy was a good idea. Having a guy look at the Mac and act like it was a toy was not a good idea.

Actually, the "Wanna Mac" bit is a portion of the parody "Winsongs '95" and not an ad at all. As a whole it's a pretty good joke.

That ad is great... certainly alot better than that Think Different crap and the iTunes ads
..... It actually tells the viewer what a Mac can do with PC's... Whats wrong with having the toy in it? It is part of the ad telling you that the Mac is not a "joke" computer.

The whole point is that the commercial is BS. It doesn't matter if the Mac can read a Windows floppy or not. He didn't even bother to ask the guy what was on the floppy. It really doesn't mean a thing if you can open a floppy if you can't do anything with the contents of it.
The ad is bad. It didn't accomplish what it set out to do at all. You didn't see businesses lining up to buy millions of Macs after that ad. On the other hand, while I agree that the iTunes commercials were pretty much a waste, iTunes is one of Apple's most successful products with over 18million downloads.

Ditto. I still have the 'ol fella - still works, but I can't really seem to find a use for it. I never really wanted to spend the $$$ it would take to upgrade it so it eventually fell into obscurity as it was surplanted by newer, faster Macs. Still, it has a warm place in my heart (it was the Mac that connected me to eWorld. <sigh>)

My first Mac was a Performa 6115CD - I got a new case from Apple for it, and it was renamed to a Power Macintosh 6100/60.
Good ol days. Now of course, I have a B&W G3 with OS X server on it, and a TiBook/667. I remember the days when I was "OMG - Power Computing just released 225 MHz!"

The best commercial by far was "1984".
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Brings back memories of way back when I used a Centris 610. All in all, I do not like the ad. I like the message, but it's presented in such a cheesy way. And bland, very very bland.

I agree. It's so un-Apple in that's it's not too creative and such an obvious set up. I don't like those cookie-cutter commercials.
I did, however, make a small point and tried to debunk the myth of incompatibility. I don't think it did very much, though.
Hell, it doesn't matter now. Not like Macs come with floppy drives anymore
