Sagall's Blog
OK, I got WoW and I set up a Warrior named Sagall on the Whisperwind server. Based on the sticky at the top, this seemed like the best idea. Is this my best choice or should I restart somewhere else? I should be on evenings after 7 PM PDT, so come chat with me!
I'm currently stuck trying to explore the JasperGold mine. I'm getting tired of kobolds. The bears on the way to the mine are a bit too tough for me, so I'll get some more experience and buy some more armor before going back. Do you guys have any hints for this area?
The one big irritation I've got is that after a while the view on my character slowly rotates so I'm looking straight down on top of his head. How does one rotate the camera so I'm looking from behind, as it was at first?
<edit> Title changed to more accurately reflect this thread's content.

Re: Sagall's Blog
Hey Kirk, that camera bug happens to me very often, there seems to be two ways to fix it:
1) right click the ground to move around, sometimes resets the camera
2) log out then back in, works everytime for me
Also, if you haven't gotten a guild invite by the time i'm on I'll send you one.

Welcome, unfortunately I can't help you in that are, what I would try to do is get all the quests done in the area you can stay alive in, and then move on.

Re: Sagall's Blog
I never had that problem. Maybe it is a human warrior problem.
Oh, our server isn't that bad compared to a lot of servers.

...but it is one of the highest population PvE servers around. So, at times the lag can be troublesome.

Re: Sagall's Blog
Yeah, I noticed that when I set up my character. However that seems to be the server recommended in the sticky at the top of this forum. Since I'd rather play with my buddies, I'm not sure changing to another is a good idea. . . unless we've got more than one with MA peeps on them.
If we need a different character with different skills, I'll restart. I've only just started this character and am not too attached to the human warrior.
Just tell me what MA needs.

Nope, WW is our primary server. Our secondary server is horde faction on Boulderfist (for the few times WW is down for maintenance). We usually get debilitating lag after patches for a few days then it goes away. This is a lot better than the constant crashes and item database corruption that happened shortly after launch.

I added your info to the Main Toon thread. Please post any major level updates (ie. level 10/20/30/40/50/60 or profession levels 1/75/150/225/300) or new alternate toons/characters there. -netnutz

Welcome Sagall,
One thing you might want to do is hold out on armor to drop normally for you other than spending your hard earned coin to purchase items from merchants.
Tons of gear drops frequently. Plus if you get tired of War be sure to try out the other classes/races.
Give us a haller if you need help killing something!

Yeah, vendor weapons and armor are rarely worth the money. Feel free to ask people if you need something made (probably blacksmith for you).

If your server is down, check AppleAddict for the server we play on, if you think you can stand us.

Heh, about that, I temporarily joined a small guild over there because I met one of the guys and he seemed nice and needed one more signature so I figured, eh. I can leave at any time, just have to get around to it.

Re: Sagall's Blog
Last night was fun. I hope I'm finally done with kobolds. Murlochs and brigands are the new baddies. I also accidentally walked across the bridge at Three Corners and entered the Dark (or was that Shadow?) Forest. The first roaming baddie was what looked like a large black widow spider. It killed me off promptly. I'll wait a while before venturing back.
Wandering back to my body as a ghost was very edifying. There's some particularly grim looking lands up on top of the mountain range southwest of the Three Corners Bridge. I passed a crypt to some dark lord with hooded statues with red eyes overlooking the crypt. They looked like the statues on the splash screen where you log-in. I'm sure it will be quite a while before I'm up to navigating that area.
I grabbed a dropped kobold pick and that's certainly better than the old shortsword. However I need a decent sword. One of my quests out of Goldshire might get me one of those.
In spite of your suggestions, I have been buying armor from the smith. The dropped stuff is OK, but not as good as the bought items. It does cause me to go on copper gathering expeditions to the kobolds more often, I'm sure.
I think I'm now a level two Warrior. yippeee
How does one check that to be sure? I know I've gotten that golden glow signaling a level up more often than that, maybe ten times. However they won't teach me any warrior tactics beyond level two so I assume that's where I am.

Re: Sagall's Blog
Whoa, level two? Why are you out of the monastery? That place is usually good up until about level six. Oh, Duskwood is the place with the evil spiders and undead stuff and Redridge is the place with the red mountains and orcs. Those are about level 24 and 18 respectively.
And trainers (past level 6 you need to see a trainer outside of the monestary, like in Goldshire or Stormwind) will train you every even numbered level. You will get a warrior quest for a new stance at level 10 (and a weapon I think) as well as starting to gain talent points that you can use to specialize abilities to some degree.
Hope that helped.

Re: Sagall's Blog
If you look at your characters portrait in the upper left, it will have a number signifiying your level.
You can also hit the "c" key to bring up your character info, it will tell you at the top.
As for training skills, you can train on even levels 2,4,6, etc..
In the earlier areas you can only get a few skills for your lower levels, I would advise going to Stormwind and training there. Stormwind is just north west of Goldshire, it is one of the major citys. Find a gaurd in the city and talk to them, ask them where to find a class trainer for your warrior. I think the trainer is in the "old town" district though I can't be sure.

Re: Sagall's Blog
What monastery? I haven't seen any monastery yet. There ain't no steeenkin' monastery for warriors!
We start out at a small town called NorthWind and then wander the woods getting beat up by wolves and kobolds.
Yeah, that quest for a decent sword took me to Stormwind and I saw the trainer. He's sent me out east to fight some brigands to prove my mettle. I'll get the sword from that quest. Some of these quests have several parts. I think I'm on the last part to getting a decent sword. Hopefully the trainer will train me up after that.
I've noticed steeds are expensive. I also see several people flying overhead on winged steeds. Those must be ridiculously expensive.
How do you guys get funds in the lower levels? Beating up kobolds is OK, but I'd like some way to collect coppers a bit quicker.

Re: Sagall's Blog
Hey Kirk!
Yeah at lvl 2 you should still be in Monastery (Northwind).
Hint:
Quests, quests, quests.
They do a great job of moving you around. Finish all the quests for a particular area and a couple of them will have you go off somewhere else to explore. So on and so forth.
Beast 3 lvls or higher are gonna stomp ya pretty good. If you question if you're ready for an area mouse over the critters running around. If they're 3lvls or more move out unless you like your head on a platter.
Your first 15 lvls or so are going to be around the Monastery, Goldshire, Stormwind and Westfall. After that you'll move on to Darkshire and Lakeshire. Another route you can do is after the Monastery is to hit Stormwind, take the tram to Iron Forge and then do the lower level quests there around the dorfs.
Team up! By far the most fun and most XPs I've had is with a group. Keep the group close to the same in levels. On the other hand it is a ball to watch a 60lvl toon beat the snot out of deadmines.
(You'll see the deadmines soon enough
)
I'm at lvl 30 now and have about a week left on my free month. Just to give ya an idea on where you could be if kept on it.
EDIT::
The Monastery is at Northwind.
Oh and you can't get a mount til lvl 40. The 900G mounts are epic mounts. The ol' mare is gonna run around a 100G.
At lvl 30 I only have 40G 50S n 30C... money is slow, but it does start to build, keep questing/selling.
Check your mail in WoW.

Oh, no problem on all roaming beasties around Goldshire and a bit beyond. Beasties level 8 and lower are a piece of cake as long as they come one at a time. Beware the pickaxe of Sagall
We have mail in WoW? I'll have to go look for the controls for that.
<edit> Oh, OK, so that big white stone building in NorthWind is the monastery? I already completed all their quests. I'm working on the ones that start out of Goldshire now.
100G for a plain ol' horse?
I haven't collected even one gold coin so far. I'm feeling rich with 6 silvers in my pocket, fully outfitted by the Goldshire smith (about 30S worth of copper collecting from the kobolds) and somewhat trained by the local trainer (maybe 4S worth).
I was noticing the weapons in Stormwind start around 4G. I've more collecting ahead of me. How may silvers to one gold?

Re: Sagall's Blog
100:1 ratio on money. Also, it starts coming in a lot faster when you get above level 30 or so.
Wait til you get to level 60 as a warrior, then you will be paying over 2 gold just to repair your equipment from 3 hours of use

And if you are a caster you pay out the rear for reagents. Stupid roots should cost anything, I pick stupid flowers stupid stupid stupid.
Anyway you should get the tutorial quest teaching you how to use the "flying mounts" soon. Don't worry about money, everything scales pretty much for you.
