Re: Sagall's Blog
you only need a quiver or ammo bag if you're planning on carrying more than one stack of ammo. i find that for warriors/rogues you're just fine keeping the stack of arrows/shot in your inventory and freeing up that slot for a bag rather than wasting it on an ammo pouch or quiver.
Immediately, a large toad leaped into her lap and looked at her as if it wanted to be loved. "Grep," it exclaimed. "Don't mind him," explained the Mad Hacker. He's just looking for some string."

I did not know that! Awesome, more room for my rogue!

Re: Sagall's Blog
I didn't know that either. I figured a quiver or shot bag was mandatory for use with ranged weapons. The manual mentions that using a quiver or shot bag increases accuracy. The WoW site says the accuracy increase is 10%.

Re: Sagall's Blog
Using a quiver or ammo bag increases firing rate, by the amount noted in the quiver or bag's tooltip. Really doesn't matter as a non-hunter, you'll only be firing a shot or two before you're in melee.

Re: Sagall's Blog
Very true. I get maybe two shots before melee begins. I did as BJ suggested and now can use my crossbow just fine. I'm thinking about making a trip back to Stormwind for a gun. I suspect their range is a bit further and they probably hit harder too.
Sentinel Hill quest givers surprised me a little. A new quest appeared after I completed two tonight. I've got at least two more quests against the Defias Brotherhood before I'm done in this area.

Re: Sagall's Blog
I've got a strategy going for soloing. Clear an area of roaming baddies near a Defias Brotherhood group. Use the crossbow to draw the melee only DB members to me. During melee slowly back into my safe zone. When the DB member runs away, its now possible for me to follow him and finish him off even if he runs toward his group. Once the melee only bad guys are dead, work on the projectile bad guys and eventually the mages. Of course its more fun in a group, less care is required when dealing with a group of baddies.
Does anybody know where I can buy shoulder pads or a helmet? I'm not finding those for sale anywhere.
Stormwind doesn't have any guns in the trade district. I'll have to go see if the dwarves make those.

Re: Sagall's Blog
Yup, that is pretty much how I soloed. Find a safe zone and pull everything to you. Just make sure the zone is actually clear (I had a fun time chasing a runner in the Charred Vale into the backdoor of a horde village...oops).
Just ask in guild chat if someone can make you some gear. I am sure a blacksmith would be happy to help.

I've been surprised a few times. The cleared roaming monsters eventually respawn. Its heck to be beating up on a DB member and have a Fleshripper and Coyote join in. Yet another return from the dead.

Yeah, back yourself against a wall. Things are not likely to jump out of walls to get you (although it does happen from time to time...I kid you not).

Re: Sagall's Blog
Also, I believe guns are sold in Dwarven District of Stormwind not the Trade district where the Tram is. -netnutz
p.s. What really sucks is playing a melee class and a ranged mob is spawned up in a cliff or in a tree where a) you can't get to, & b) they can keep ranged firing at you. The worst is when they are stuck in 'evade' mode where anything you throw at them misses. Best just to leave the area if u can. /rant

Re: Sagall's Blog
When something is stuck in a hill or tree you can sometimes get within melee range. I did it all the time to tree wolves in Darkshore. Of course, the land murlocs I just ran from since they were casters under who knows how much terrain.

Re: Sagall's Blog
That evade thing. I noticed that on a character or two and thought that must be a bug of some sort since their strikes never hit me either. I did finally just ignore that character and go beat up on a different DB member. Heh, I've not yet had a group of spawned baddies appear in a location I can't reach.
I also noticed some dead critters laying around that never disappear. There's a dead Goretusk near Sentinel Hill that's been there for at least three days of real time, not game time. I thought all killed things eventually fade away and respawn. What's up with that?
I was wondering what the relative speed of game time is vs real time. It looks like game time runs about 50% faster than real time. However I haven't watched a clock to verify that.
Thanks, I'll head over to the dwarven district for a gun.

Re: Sagall's Blog
Game time is real time. It used to be set to Central Standard Time but now I am not so sure. If you see anyone in game saying such and such at a certain time, they a referring to game time. What you are probably seeing is that in game they made sun rise and sun set last a little longer than they are supposed to since it looks pretty.
Oh, and those guys you were talking about were probably bugged. It happens.

Gryphons (the winged mounts) are not purchased but used on a one-time basis, for a small fee. Some are free. They transport you to a set destination and disappear...the most expensive rides are 9 silver.
Yes, but no sprinkles. For every sprinkle I find, I shall KILL you.

I know WW is on CST. Mouse over the game clock and it's the same time for me. Wish they'd dump that clock tho.
Don't need reminders of how much time I've blown.
The Evade bug:
It happens when you or your target is in a spot that can not be attacked. I.E. Wolves can't/don't swim so attacking them from water won't work. Sometimes positioning way up on a hill with the idea of "raining hell" down upon your foes will not work.
I too had a baddie fall through the terrain and attack my feet. I coined a phrase for it "A WoW WTF moment" or "WoW WTF!" for short.

Re: Sagall's Blog
Oh yeah, game mechanics don't really change depending on time. Yeah, some npcs "sleep" on the floor but you can still talk to them. The lighting only varies from light to lighter so that isn't a real change either.

Re: Sagall's Blog
Perhaps that's true in some instances but not all. I had a Defias Brotherhood member standing in the middle of a field with no plants between her and I. We had nothing but evade, evade, evade. So I went to beat up another.

Re: Sagall's Blog
Someone probably was running from a defias and when they hit a zone line it sent it into evade mode since it couldn't run back. It happens a lot when mobs don't have leashes.
