Re: What college are you going to?
Just a question for you Americans, here (the UK) college is 16-18 where you do As and A levels to get into university, where you get a degree (I'm planning on going to Liverpool to take Oceans, Climate & Physical Geography BTW). In the states, you seem to call our 'university' a 'college', so like whats our college in the US and what the hell is a univeristy in the states?!

Re: What college are you going to?
When you are sixteen you are finishing up your sophomore year of highschool and you graduate highschool when you are 18. If you get into "college" that's usually a four year process where you get a Bachelor's of Science or Arts, depending. I'm not sure why some are colleges and why some are universities... I think the colleges are general Associate type degrees (2 years) like Houston Community College, and the universities are the dorms and the four year deal, like Texas A&M University, where I go.

Re: What college are you going to?
Actually, I think a junior college is a 2-year institution (often with no application, i.e., anyone can go), a college is a four-year place for undergrads, and a university is a place for undergrads+grad students.

Close, but not quite.
Some people do two years of college, around 17 or 18, and then go to a university, as in the UK, although only for two years . However, as keprydak said, these are community (or junior) colleges which only teach for two years. You can collect a two year (associate) degree from one, but it isn't worth much.
There are also 4 year institutions which we refer to interchangably as colleges and universities (even though there is a difference). Generally, when you're at a four year institution, you stay there for four years and collect your bachelor's after that (universities and full colleges are more prestigous than junior colleges). The difference between a college and a university is that a college won't offer a doctorate degrees (PhD, requiring 5 years of study after a bachelors), while a university will (a college can, however, offer a master's which requires 2 years of study after a bachelor's).
IIRC, most degree programs in europe don't offer simple 4-years-of study degrees. They generally require 6 years and are therefore more similar to a master's degree here. But feel free to correct me on that.

Re: What college are you going to?
I'll be getting my Masters in one year. I'm graduating a year early, and then taking one more year (a full 12 months, not two semesters) and getting the Masters. But I think it's because I'll be taking 1/2 graduate level and 1/2 undergraduate level classes my "senior" year. So basically I am getting 2 degrees in four years... which... rocks.
