One more thing about the differences between colleges and universities...
A university will often contain colleges. For example, the university Virginia Tech has several colleges: College of Arts & Human Sciences, College of Engineering, Pamplin School of Business, etc.
I also think that you can earn a doctoral degree from a college, but that college is usually under the university umbrella. For instance, if I earned my B.A. in Political Science at Virginia Tech then went to William & Mary to earn a P.h.D is American Government at their graduate level College of Arts & Sciences.
Speaking of William & Mary, the official name of the school is The College of William and Mary, but W&M is in deed a university, not just a college.

Rochester Institute of Technology for a BS in Computer Science here. Probably one of the geekiest universities in the nation, where the artists and the engineers/CS people manage to somehow coexist, with very few girls outside of the art school....

Haha, yeah, I don't know how we can be in the top ten ugliest campuses (3rd or 7th last I checked, I forget), and supposidly have a very good art program.... At least the newer buildings don't look like an industrial wasteland completely....

...and you are in the middle of nowhere. Even Delta dropped most of their flights to West Lafayette. I have a good friend that went there for a year, and is taking a year off because he can't stand it.

agreed....west lafayette is not the most happening place to be. Luckily for me I went to undergrad in Milwaukee, that is a fun and entertaining city. Chicago is 2.5 hours north of purdue and indianapolis is 1 hour south, so that defiantly counts as the middle of nowhere. One more year in the grad program and I will escape and never look back.....good school though ..... horrible location!

UW has some awesome architecture. I really enjoyed the wacky engineering building and the red gym simply because... it's the red gym.

University of Texas of the Permain Basin.
Class of 06' if I dont get molested this year.
By Texas state law, the smallest school in the UT system must have the longest name.
Also, we have no real mascot to go anywhere, and maybe it's just as well. I'm sure he'd hang himself.
