PowerPoint/Projector Leave PB user in the dark

I had prepared my PowerPoint Presentation to the best of my ability. I arrived at the conference with my PB2000 under my arm, ready to rock... only I didn't. The Dell Projector did not recongnize my PB, nor did a Sony one they had around.

Someone suggested a driver was missing. I'm still running OS9 (I don't know if such compatibility problem would be addressed by a newer PB).

Any suggestions?   My Windows loving friends tell me if I'm going to do Presentations constantly a Dell portable is the way to go.... I don't have the money for one yet (can't you tell... I still have a 2000 PB!!!!).

HELP!

Which model of PowerBook do you have? "2000" is not a model number -- I'm taking it to mean the year your PowerBook was made. That leads us to a PowerBook G3, most likely a Lombard or Pismo.

Both of those have VGA monitor jacks on the back. Turn off the projector and PowerBook, connect the projector's VGA cable to it and the laptop, and start it all up. Once the PowerBook is booted, you may have to go into your Control Strip and turn on Video Mirroring. Then cycle through the inputs on the projector until you find the proper one (Video 1 or RGB is usually what it's named).

If your friends are pushing a Dell laptop on you, ignore their advice whole-heartedly. I would suggest a refurbished iBook G4 -- by this point, it'll include Tiger (X 10.4) and will handle everything presentation-wise with ease. Your PowerBook should still be good for a while, though.

Yes, it is a Pismo. We tried restarting the Pismo with the Projector hooked up. No go...

Since I posted this in the now closed duplicate  here it is again . . .

what is a Power Book 2000, you mean a PB 2400? Or a PowerBook from 2000.

Either way OS 9 should have been fine. Did you boot/reboot the Mac after plugging in the projectors.

That is the only time I have had issue with OS 9 and a projector, is when you connect a projector or monitor after it is booted up. Also maybe a scan rate out of range, but a reboot should settle that as well. Maybe the VGA port is dead on the PB.

It is a PowerBook released on 2000, the Pismo.

On the boot order, should I turn the projector on first, or the PB?

Is it a must for the projector to be restarted? or should it be on when the PB is connected and restarted?
