iLife update?
Apple announced it would release the iLife upgrades on 25 January. There's no notice on when they'll be released on the Apple website. Does anyone have any news on *when* they'll be available for download? Was there a delay w/ Apple? Or is it just due to the internet worm wreaking havoc out there? (I find this explanation unlikely, but I suppose Appple could be waiting for the fallout to avoid straining its servers).

Re: iLife update?
Jan 31st is the new day, for downloads as well.

That's what the rumor sites say but I still haven't seen anything from Apple.

Re: iLife update?
also, jobs mentioned in his keynote specifically that idvd would *not* be a download. he said it was because it would be too large to download. i'm mostly concerned w/ iphoto anyhow.
edit: dude, my bad. I hit edit when I should have hit quote. my apologies. deleted the first part of your post, but left the last as it was. again, my bad. here, take a cookie along with my apologies // aaron

Well I stand, for the most part, corrected, but notice neither of those links are to Apple's site. I was looking for a press release or something, but I guess they wouldn't put bad news on their website

LOL ... yep, Apple only puts out good news (as per Steve Jobs' instructions, no doubt).

Re: iLife update?
Apple has said that there is a delay but they have not released a date. The rumor sites say Jan 31, but Apple has not stated that.

Re: iLife update?
Look at the links
"We will be shipping our iLife retail package and making iPhoto2 and iMovie3 available for download on our website by January 31, a week later than we originally announced," Apple said in a statement given to MacCentral today.
Apple representatives gave no reason for the delay in shipping the product.
Emphasis mine.
Also, they do say iLife retail will be available then too. (which IS iDVD)
to run OS X, you gotta mount your computer on it.

Re: iLife update?
yes, and I mentioned that in my first post
And although none of the sites link to Apple's, both sites say that Apple issued the statement.

Re: iLife update?
Well... I spent two long pointless days checking the Apple software page about once every half hour before I finally discovered the MA forums while I was browsing around looking for an explanation.
Apple should just be kind enough to post a one-liner on the iLife page stating the delay.... I don't even care about reasons.
I've never used iMovie or iDVD, but I've always been a big fan of iPhoto. I went ahead and downloaded iPhoto 2 from LimeWire.
Well, it's nothing to get all that excited about.... I've played with it for about two hours... I was most excited about the "Enhance" button, because I spent a lot of time switching to Photoshop to use the "Auto Levels" feature and I thought that iPhoto would save me time and effort. No real luck. The enhance button is OK, and works, but for most landscape shots it reduces the contrast too badly and washes out the pic... and sometimes it inexplicably gives the whole photo a greenish hue.
Truth be told, iPhoto is an OK update... the burn CD feature and the new song selection for the slide show are nice... but I'm sorry I blew two anxious, drooling days for it.
I don't want to be an Apple basher...
But why the heck is iPhoto so dang sloooooooow? Even photoshop runs faster on my 500 Mhz iBook!
