Re: Everyone should have 2 monitors

I have 3 on the PC at work.  I'm normally logged into at least one windows box via remote desktop so RDC gets maximized on the left screen.  Middle gets my IM client, powershell windows, start menu & quicklaunch, secondary RDC windows, and various other apps that get opened.  Right gets email client and browser.

The best part about multiple monitors on the PC is that for most games the secondary windows don't go blank, so i can still keep an eye on my IM and Email clients between respawns. wink

I had duals on my G4 when it was in its own dedicated computer room, but when I moved and lost the room I got an iMac G5 that lives in the kitchen.  Not enough physical desktop real estate for 2 monitors, and after using multiple monitors for so long it does feel a bit cramped.

Re: Everyone should have 2 monitors

I have been hooked on duals since I bought my new iMac G5 in February. LG 17" hooked to my iMac 17",... I couldn't work any other way now, and I wonder how I got along for so long with only one monitor.

Re: Everyone should have 2 monitors

I only really use 2 monitors for development.

All in all, I work in so many different locations with my PowerBook that I've become accustom to working on my dinky 15in PB.

That said. Now when I place my Powerbook next to another computer I always expect to be able to slide the cursor between desktops tongue

Re: Everyone should have 2 monitors

No dualies yet. Right now I'm on a 20" ACD with a Mac mini, but I'm buying an iMac Intel 20" later this or next month. I plan to span then. Can't wait.

A lot of dual monitor needs can be solved with virtual desktops.

virtual desktops are kinder on the environment because there is only manufacture and disposal needs for one monitor, not two.

Granted, for some lines of work you really do need more than one, but remember - luxury has a price that we often do not see. If you really do not need it, try using virtual desktops instead. It saves you money, saves power, and saves the manufacture (and future disposal) ecological damage.

Heh, I use dual screens and virtual desktops smile
