Teeth grills

They had a thing on the news about these. They are removal, and are being worn by a lot of young people as jewelry for the teeth, but as one orthodotist pointed out, wearing them alot is going to screw up bites.

What i don't understand is why people wear them. They look extremely ugly. They aren't, in my opinion, any sort of fashion statement. They look ghetto.

Anyone know anyone that wears these, or even see anyone wearing them? I've yet to see anyone that has them.

Teeth grills?

I don't imagine them looking like anything other than braces.

The pics they showed on tv didn't look anything like braces. They looked like big gold covers for the teeth. Like a gold mouthpiece.

Re: Teeth grills

I'm thinking like, umm, a car grill, on your teeth.  That can't be right, can it?

They almost look like gold mishapen teeth over your own teeth.

That is disturbing.  I can't help but think of that rapper from Half Baked though.  tongue  That was a damn funny movie.

I've heard them called fronts: http://www.diamondteeth.com/teeth.html

BUt, I agree, they seem like a stupid thing to want to wear.

Re: Teeth grills

I always thought it was a rap/hip-hop culture thing, since I haven't really seen it outside that circle. Kind of an extension of the gold tooth cap.

I never understood either of those, but then again, I'm not African-American, and I'm not into rap/hip-hop culture, either.

Re: Teeth grills

You think that's where it ends?

Try eyeball jewelry.

(No, despite that stupid headline, it is not a "new Dutch fashion trend". Never was. The story is about a year old, and it just happened to be a Dutch surgeon that did it first. I can't say it has been particularly popular around these parts, yet. Maybe there is hope for the human race after all, huh?)

So what happens when you rub your eye?  I can't help but think that it would feel like you had a speck of dirt in your eye constantly.

Reminds me of the comic Zits when "Pierce" has to get braces put on by Jeremy's dentist dad:

"I don't know if I will like this."

"Well, just think of it as a pierced smile."

"Really? Wow! Oh, thank you, thank you!"

i don't know them personally, but these things are quite popular where i live.... all the gang banger's in my neighborhood have them. whenever i pass one on the street and smile and say hello, they smile back and i'm hit with the bling bling of a crunked out grill.
