UT Preservation Group is dead....
Really, what else is there to say? Their last update was in the start of November. There was a supposed preview release for OS X finally due out "soon", but of course nothing since. No replies at all to e-mails to them. Mac users left wishing again.

Re: UT Preservation Group is dead....
Well if Ryan had not tried to completely refine it and just let us deal with a loss of a few fps in performance then we'd have it be now. Last I saw he had gotten it working better but there was a problem which caused a loss of fps. I'd rather have that than wait for someone to completely reprogram that aspect.

Re: UT Preservation Group is dead....
Think he posts on the MA forums sometimes. Hes the guy that was taking up where Glenda Adams left off. And I know hes got a site for feedback on things but he has said many times he gets a lot of msgs about UT and so I doubt he answers many of them anymore. Trouble is that he is doing it alone and since he has to also port all the other UT based games to Mac he just cant donate as much time to the original UT.

Re: UT Preservation Group is dead....
Well I just made a post in the UTK# forum so HOPEFULLY he will see it or someone will at least tell him. I know it's not gonna be something bugfree, but like many others all I'm asking for is ANYTHING!

That is Ryan Gordon's page and UTPG used to be on there. As you can read, he took off projects that weren't being updated regularly. Once again, as he said, just because UTPG is off there doesn't mean he's not working on it. We're just going to have to wait, and nothing we say or do will make things go faster. Don't worry, if a final version is released, I'm sure you'll know about it.

Re: UT Preservation Group is dead....
Well, I'll take it with wishful thinking, since UTPG said back in Nov '04
The most important piece for all you Mac users out there is a preview release of the brand new Mac OSX client.
Unfortunately, I can't give a timeline as there could be any number of events that could push us back (and don't want to upset you with a false date).
That in itself it kinda like dangleing it on a string just in front of us. :-(
JUST GIVE US THE PREVIEW RELEASE

Re: UT Preservation Group is dead....
Anyone know what is going on with UTPG? I just finished poking around the icculus bugzilla for UT and the last bug reported for the 468 patch was 2/28/05...almost a year ago. Did Ryan Gordon give up on it? Been a few months since he even posted about it in his finger.

Do you see this Ryan? You are the ONLY one who can help here. We aren't asking for much; it doesn't have to run as smooth as silk, as we ask is that it RUNS! (ie with music)
Please............................don't give up on us.

The last UTPG post was in Nov. 04. So between Nov 04 and Feb 05 Ryan learned his UT99 OSX port sucked ass and we haven't heard a word since.

Re: UT Preservation Group is dead....
Sucked ass to who? Some tester who deemed 100FPS or less is sucky or the Mac gamers who right now would be happy with anything a tad better than preview 3?
Come on, just give us an open beta test to judge if it sucks or not!

Ryan's Mac Ninja Team who the beta was released to. For Ryan to state the above his beta must have really been a POS.

Still, at least they could state what sucked ass about it. I'd like to see what sucks worse than PR3.

Re: UT Preservation Group is dead....
I can't imagine it being worse tha PR3. The beta had the abilty to leave fullscreen mode ffs, big gripe with PR3. It had a working ucc-bin so that is also a plus, capabilities of the linux UT. The bug tracker doesn't discuss much, mostly small issues...like screenshots not working in window mode.

Ryan has dropped it and AA is on the way.

Sadly, the ArmyGame project is about to teeter into this category.
2.7 is coming soon, and I'm still fighting with the 2.6 clients.

It's okay.
We'll just load up WinXP on our new Intel Macs and play it the way it was meant to be played.
All for the best.

Re: UT Preservation Group is dead....
That's a great idea. First step, buy an intel mac
Done.
Next step, get my grubby little hands on a copy of UT.
Or I'll just get UT2k4

I can get your grubby hands on a copy of UT GotY, not a problem.
But yeah, sad that it's the end of an era.

Give us all a disposable income and a better reason than one game to buy an Intel Mac and Windows.
That's just stupid.
And for "play it the way it was meant to be played" then you really need Linux. UT in Linux is much better than Windows.
