Ahh we are falling far

We are down to 22 place, and are losing processors again 'blush'.  Come on people fold. Maybe the new peowermacs will help a little.

BTW anyone notice some huge protiens out there, I'm folding one right now that is 400 frames, but worth a lot, just thought I'd throw my comments out there.

Yep, proteins are bigger.  That may have a little to do with our apparent lower active processors, since it takes longer for each CPU to "check-in" with Stanford.  Either way, though, we need to get those numbers up.

Fold on :!:

Re: Ahh we are falling far

I've been getting nothing but these "Monster" units lately, most my machines are "lower-end" and taking a long time to crunch these things.

I've gotta go to the main Folding Forum and remind them about the site as well.....new address and all..maybe then we'll get ranked with Google..by having other sites linked to us...that could help neutral

It just seems to me that people get excited about this kind of stuff, and then when the "wonder" wears off....off they go...

I just hope we can at least "maintain" our status as the #1 mac team.

I just ordered the (old) dual 1.25. I should have that crunching away for us about a week from now.

In other "new CPUs news," it doesn't look like I'll be adding as many workstations at work that I'd been hoping for. With the economy the way it is, we've got 2nd-half of the fiscal year (Jun 1 - May 31 for us) budget restrictions. I may be able to add four quad-proc servers for a short time, but I have to be careful on those as while they are in my possession in my care in my building, I'm not the owner.

Re: Ahh we are falling far

I haven't been promoting Folding@Home nearly as much as I used to, but there is one thing I have done that seems to be making a difference.

As you may have noticed, my signature breifly promotes Folding@Home. If you want to promote Folding@Home with ease, i recommend that you try it too.

Code:

[url=macaddict.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=158]Folding@Home[/url] helps saves lives, is free, and doesn't get in your way.

Re: Ahh we are falling far

So, I was going to try to help our standings and I downloaded Folding for my XP computer at work. Besides not understanding how to minimize the window, it crashed 2 minutes after I downloaded my first protein. Deciding not to risk anything, I uninstalled it from the computer. Conspiracy?

Oh, Halbie, how may I help thee?

First, get the CLI, not GUI version.

If you'd like to get more advanced, then we can discuss how to set Folding up as a service under NT (2k & XP included).
