Eh?

A removable face plate gives you the option to buy replacements to customize the look of your system with new colors and designs.

I'm pretty sure TG bashed that idea when MS announced that the X360 could do that.

I remember him not bashing it, just downplaying it as "a way for Xbox-h4x0r-wannabies to think they're being l33t."

He's a big Nintendo fan, so I just expected he'd have posted here sometime in the 3 pages the thread had (before you had ot go and question me!!!)

Actually, I distinctly remember him saying that "choice is bad" in reference to X360's faceplate feature, and he then provided a link.

Re: New gameboy

Well, for the record, I don't think the faceplate idea for the Game Boy Micro is a great idea.  However, if the faceplates have a clear area in the center that cover/protect the screen, then I'll be inclined to like it.  Since the Game Boy Micro will be finding a home in people's pockets, and doesn't fold shut to protect the screen like the SP does, the screen is bound to get scuffed.  If these faceplates have a clear area over the screen to protect it, then the screen itself won't be getting scuffed up, and you'll be able to just spend a few bucks to get a new faceplate if/when the one you have gets damaged.

A changeable faceplate just for the sake of having it is silly, but if there's some practicality to it, then it's a good idea.

Re: New gameboy

Good point.  I haven't seen anything about the actual build of the faceplate, but yeah, if it includes a screen shield, that would help.  My fear is that it'll be like a cellphone faceplate (particularly like the old Nokia 5600 series faceplates) in that it might actually have a screen shield, but there will still be ample space between it and the display, and so dirt/lint/other misc. crap will find its way inside the GB and onto the display (but behind the screen).  Then you'll find yourself removing the faceplate frequently to clean the display beneath.

I hated my old Nokia because of that.

Re: New gameboy

PSP is the r0xorz.

However, I wish they had gone with matte plastic in the button and dpad areas, the whole shiny treatment gives it a nice array of thumbprints after extended use.

Re: New gameboy

yo
this new gb would b soooo much cooler it was an SP micro.  then it could be flip and small and would still have room for all buttons to go on the front
& also, maybe they could of added the R+L buttons to be next to AB on the front.  I no they are meant for right and left but the buttons annoy me on the back
also, if they had it flip, they could of made the screen bigger cause it looks mad small
i still will probly get one by trading in some old crappy games like american idol and my pokemon games

nd this is so cool man
i hav this firend who knows this guy who works 4 nintendo, & he was tellin me tht the ds & gameboy r gunna mix
so it would be 2 screen and other ds quality, then all the qualities of gba,
itll b awesum yo
ill say new stuff wen i find new stuff out

Re: New gameboy

and the ds is a great product. me and the missus both decided to pick up a Nintendo DS.

we each got a silver one, as well as mario 64ds and kirby: canvas curse. the wifi play is fun as hell and we spent about a half an hour doing the picto chat thing back and forth.

she was originally going to get a psp but after looking at all the games available she only wanted to play ds games. so for $50 more than 1 psp, we got 2 ds

Re: New gameboy

I'm just waiting for Metroid, then the DS will be mine.

Game Boy micro: also mine.  I'm going to take one with me everywhere I go.

Re: New gameboy

the hunters preview was pretty cool. just jumping via the touchpad touch some getting used to. but aiming was glorious.

i love the fact that we don't both have to have the mario game to multiplay. she just dl's it from my ds and we're off.
