MAF Lore
This is a question Ive actually wanted to ask for quite some time, but have always forgotten to. Could someone please recount the fabled story of the grand exodus from MAF that Ive heard reffered to so many times?

Re: MAF Lore
They can all basically be summed up like this:
Some people found another board they liked better and started using the new board instead of coming to MAF so much. Many of their friends from MAF joined them at the new board.
Exciting, eh?

Re: MAF Lore
54 wasn't so much of an exodus.
Didn't some people just leave the web completely about the same time as AAF?

Re: MAF Lore
MAF used to be super active. I remember when I started coming here and this place was crazy. And everytime there was a MacWorld or something this place would literally shut down.
I sort of sad that many members switched to 54, or post their primarily now. But I guess its because they just needed a different place for discussion.

Re: MAF Lore
I have been here almost 5 years now, but I don't really remember any huge exodus. That could be because in the beginning, I wasn't all that active here. I really haven't been active until the last two years or so. I do remember that in the begining, the topics on the main page would refresh every few seconds sometimes, whereas when they last worked, it would sometimes been 20 min between new posts. Oh, well. I have to admit that the group that is left seems to be a pretty dang good bunch though. Lots of knowledgeable people to answer your questions, and make jokes about you when you do something really stupid!
I know that from experience!
