Re: Hand me down power G3
The fact that you would rather attack other's statements than contribute something constructive is not doing you any favors in terms of making friends or influencing people. There are numerous ways of expressing your qualms about dealing with older systems that do not make you sound like an elitist zealot. There are also times and places where it is best not to comment about those subjects. When a person is bragging about the fact that they just scored a free computer is one of those times. When a person is trying to troubleshoot a system and get it working at what they consider an acceptable level is another one of those times. This topic and the other one you decided to relate how much how much of a hassle you think those systems are each encompassed both of the situations. Your posts ended up serving no purpose other than derailing the conversation.
Finally, I think you should take a serious look at your own writing skills before commenting about the level of writing they demonstrate. Linuxgeek is actually one of the clearest, most relevant people posting in this topic. His posts are well thought out and to the point. You on the other hand are much harder to interpret. Your use of a thesaurus is also not aiding the clarity your posts (which is a large part its actual purpose).
Now can we please get back to helping digitaldude get his system to be something that acceptable to him?

The anti-intellectualism in the USA is inexcusable and disgraceful.

Then go start a topic about it in MiniThink and let this topic get back on course.

You can be but you apparently learned a bit from the last time you acted like a jerk and were called on it. smurf hasn't gotten to to that point as of yet.
Since this topic seems unrecoverable I'm guessing it's run it's course. If digitaldude still has stuff to ask, I invite him to start a new topic about it.
And just for the record I'm 32, smurf.
