Maybe they instituted a draft?
I can't imagine Han Solo being a quality yes-man.

Han would be about 10 years old at the time of the Kashyyyk invasion. Besides, not all imperial soldiers are clones. How do you explain Captain Needa, Admiral Piett, Grand Moff Tarkin, Admiral Thrawn, and all those imperial navy officers ? Luke at the beginning of ANH wanted to join the Imperial academy. Also there's the story of Kyle kKatarn, a decorated Imperial cadet who bailed on the Empire and switched sides after finding out it was the Sith alongside the Empire who killed his father, not the jedi or rebellion.

The Empire killing parents is a very common occurrence in the Star Wars universe.

I don't think the Empire would allow a clone to be anything but an regular soldier. From what we've seen, they're a bit dim, and have no ability for independent or creative thought. Just what you want in an expandable grunt, but not in an officer.

They stopped using clones after ep III. They probably had some sort of draft once they became the empire.

Re: star wars: episode III reviews/discussion (CONTAINS SPOILERS!)

When you think about it, Anakin was all for peace in the galaxy.  Say what?

Ok, so anyone remember Episode II? When Anakin was frolicking in Naboo with Padme?  He said that he did not believe in the democracy because he felt that one ruler could maintain tranquility in the galaxy.  He also made mention of the ruler needing to be strong.

Cut to Episode III, in which Darth Sidous makes claims to "peace."  And how, only after wiping out the Jedi and taking control, he would make the galaxy peaceful.  Anakin, already pissed off by the Jedi and worried sick about Padme, thinks: "aw heck, this guy sounds like he has a good plan."  Plus, Darth Sidous was, as mentioned before, seductive.  And strong.  And offered everything Anakin hoped for: peace in the galaxy by a strong ruler.

Anakin even has one point where he thinks he could be that strong ruler.  He tries to convince Padme, but she disagrees and all hell breaks loose.  Obi-Wan, seriously, you have bad timing dude.

So blah blah, for the next 17 years, Anakin helps Darth Sidous in performing devious tasks.  And I bet that Sidous was constantly, "yo Anakin, once we control everything and anyone, there will be peace."  Kind of like Mao of China y'know?  Lead the revolution, but too lame to control it.

Then Episode V happens.  Anakin sees that his son, Luke, is one hecka Jedi himself.  Anakin is like, "yo, maybe my son will join me and we'll rule the galaxy peacefully together."  But of course Luke is like Padme and believes not in Anakin's crazy thoughts of peace.

So Anakin gets mad (dude has major anger issues) and cuts off Luke's arm.

Cut to Episode VI, where the final duel between Anakin and Luke and Darth Sidous.  Anakin finally sees that Darth Sidous is an ass (only a father should be allowed to smack their child upside the head) and that peace was not on Sidous's agenda.  Anakin in the end seems optimistic that his son will be the one to help restore peace in the galaxy.

Because all in all, Anakin was all about the peace.  Angry his soul was.  Redemption he must.

And in the end, Anakin finds his redemption as he becomes one of the Jedi spirits that Luke can see.

Good times.  smile

Yeah, but who taught Anakin how to do that spirit thing? At the end of ep III they made it seem like it was a new trick (yoda talking to obi wan about his master).

Seeing as it was dead-ass Qui-Gon Jin that taught it to Yoda... I'd say any dead Jedi who knew it could teach him once he died on the good side of the force.

Can you not do it if your name is Mace and you flew out the Windu?

And Vader asks Luke to join him after cutting off his hand.

"And then we entered hostile negotiations." - Anakin ep II.

I guess that was just his style.

Oh and that pun is evil.

Re: star wars: episode III reviews/discussion (CONTAINS SPOILERS!)

And doesn't Luke go bad in future episodes?  A Star Wars nut was informing me that the entire story (aka the last three that won't be made) have Luke turing to the Dark Side.

I've almost completed my personal Star Wars marathon.  And (you're not going to believe this) I had never seen The Empire Strikes Back.  I knew it was the one where Yoda shows up and Vadar says "No Luke.  I am your Father."

Weird.  And speaking of Yoda in number V, doesn't he sound like Fozzy Bear?

no people age, as do clones, so they rucruit, just like Luke wanted to do at the beginning of 4.  That whole apply to the academy thing he and Owen were arguing about, thats the Imperial Academy. So no Han isnt a clone.

I watched V and VI before I saw III and somewhere during exile Yoda goes from a very composed individual to a crazy old quack.

He did something like that, I never read the book(s) that cover that if there are any; and I bet if you sat in a little hut in the middle of the jungle for ~20 years you'd sound like Fozzy too. tongue

Re: star wars: episode III reviews/discussion (CONTAINS SPOILERS!)

Anakin sucks as a warrior because he can't keep a hand attached to his body to save his life.

Hacked off by Dooku in Episode 2.
Hacked off my Obi Wan in Episode 3.
Hacked off by Luke in Episode 6.

Maybe he buys them in bulk.

Re: star wars: episode III reviews/discussion (CONTAINS SPOILERS!)

i just wonder what Lucas's fascination with behanding is...

in Sith, 4 characters lose at least one appendage - and all of them lose a hand. Anakin - one hand, both legs. Windu - both hands. Dooku - both hands, head. Greivous - at least two hands (i didn't really count what Obi-Wan chopped off him).

but everybody's losing thier grasping appendages...

To the best of my knowledge, nope.

Luke Skywalker briefly joins the Dark Side in the novel "Dark Empire," serving a reincarnated clone of Palpatine.

I thought that was the clone of Luke (made via his severed hand on Bespin)?  I have to admit, I've never read any of the books - I get most of my info from friends who tell me this info and i pretend to care. tongue

Well, Yoda Bail'd out of a fight wink

As for Luke joining the dark side, Luuke Skywalker was the clone that joined the dark side under dark Jedi master Joruus C'Baoth (himself a clone of revered Jedi master Jorus C'Baoth) in the Thrawn trilogy books, Luke Skywalker the hero, joined the dark side in Dark Empire.
