Video Upgrade for G3 BW
Hello all. I am refurbishing an older G3 BW Rev. 1 system.
To date I have over clocked the CPU, added 512Megs of ram, 80 Gig HD, and a DVD+RW.
Things to do, is a new CPU and video.
This is where my question comes in. What would be a good video card upgrade?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

The newest video card that will work with your computer is the PCI edition of the Radeon 9200.

Re: Video Upgrade for G3 BW
I replaced the stock video card in my unit with a PCI Radeon 7000 64 Meg card, it's not quite as fast as the 9250, but it fit nicely into my budget and gave me a 20% increase on all of the video related portions of xbench

Xbench is worthless.
MacBook / 2GHz C2D / 2GB / 250GB / SuperDrive / GeForce 9400M / Mac OS 10.5
PowerBook 3400c / 180MHz 603ev / 48MBs / 1.3GB / 12x CD-ROM / Mac OS 8.6

Yeah, I've learned my OpenGL XBench lesson...

Actually, I'd say using Xbench to test the OpenGL capabilities of a GPU is more like pissing into the wind

Re: Video Upgrade for G3 BW
I picked up a 64 MB ATI RADEON 7000 PCI Video off of ebay last night. Should have it next week. Thanks for the input from everyone.

Re: Video Upgrade for G3 BW
guys,
I got a pc version of the radeon 7000 64mb a little while ago. I used the sapphire radeon 7000 edition and flashed it in a pc then re-flashed in the g3 b&w and i`ve never looked back since. They are specific and have to contain the 128k eeprom but most of the sapphire cards have them onboard. Moral of the story is if you see a sapphire radeon 7000 64mb go get it! Cost me
G4 MDD Dual 1ghz, 2gb ram, 2x250gb ATA, 2x Pioneer DVD Writers, Radeon 9000pro 64mb, Radeon 7000 64mb OSX 10.4.1 and a bag of peanuts...
G3 B&W (rev.b)450mhz, 1gb ram, 2x250gb ATA, Pioneer 109 dvdrw, Radeon 7000 64mb, OSX Server 10.2.8 and another bag of peanuts...
