How to mod Ghost Recon
I know some of you expert guys think this is a stupid question...but will some one, if not explain modding to me, at least point me in the right direction to some tutorials or something? I have never modded before and have little idea what I am doing. I want to be able to mod missions and stuff I know how to mod some attributes of the wepons.

Re: How to mod Ghost Recon
Ain't a stupid question at all. These are welcomed in here
.
Well what you need is a PC and a copy of Ghost Recon for PC. With that comes the Igor mission editor. This allows you to change missions, environments, and many other things about Recon.
It is rather easy to use. While it comes with a manual, you can in fact pretty much figure it out on your own after just messing with it for awhile. Only hard part would be the scripting. This requires you to read up on things a lil more. I've messed with some scripting but its not an area i'm good in.

Re: How to mod Ghost Recon
Igor is PC only. I suppose you could try it with VPC but I can't remember anyone that has done this successfully. If it worked it would be rather sluggish.
I'd recommend what you do is go to a goodwill place or something like that and get an old PC with something like an AMD K6 or Pentium III over 500Mhz. Should be able to get things like that for dirt cheap and they would work real well for Recon modding.

Re: How to mod Ghost Recon
You can get Igor on a mac. I have Igor 5.01(demo). The only problem with Igor on a mac is that the windows that pop up when you start Igor on a mac looks completely different than what pops up on a pc....I have no idea where to start from when I open the program....

Re: How to mod Ghost Recon
you sure it's the correct Igor?
"IGOR Pro 5 is an extraordinarily powerful and extensible scientific graphing, data analysis, image processing and programming software tool for scientists and engineers."
That is not what Igor is (for Ghost Recon).
Same name different programs. Maybe you are getting the two programs mixed up. Sure would be great if it was out on Mac.

Re: How to mod Ghost Recon
Yeah Igor is totally different. Its a mission modding/etc editor. You can't make Ghost Recon mods or maps with a graphing calculator
.
In fact to design maps you need to shell out $3000 for the software which created the maps on Recon.

Re: How to mod Ghost Recon
I made my own weapons mod the hard way: there were a few choice weapons in other people's mods that I wouldn't otherwise ever want enabled, or weapons which had been given crappy specs, so I fired up TextEdit, assembled and editted all the neccessary files and created my own as necessary. Now I use my weapons mod with a friend of mine in LAN matches.
It's a bitch editting maps and missions that way though
You may begin arguing Warnock's Dilemma now.

Re: How to mod Ghost Recon
True, there is that way. But all you need is a cheap crappy PC over 450Mhz and you got the real thing
. Nowdays i'm sure you can get those for almost nothing.
