Noob here needing G4 Help
Ok, start off by saying I never owned a mac before never operated a mac before. G/F's boss gave us one cause it fell on the ground and broke the monitor. well heres the specs on it....
800mhz
256mb "upgraded to 512" took it apart and saw the extra stick
80 gig h/d
Few questions.. How do you tell if it has a dvd/cdrw?
I press the power button and I hear the fan spin up and keep running and basically boot. But monitor is toast. Is there a button I can hit on the keyboard for it to start playing music. That way I can test if the thing boots up properly. Also anyone have one of those mini vga cords they want to sell cheap?
Also whats this thing worth?

BWAHAHAHAhahahahah!
Woooooo....
Sorry 'bout that.
Anyhow, it probably won't be worth too much without a working screen. Without it, it's basically an underpowered Mac Mini. That's a harsh statement, I know, but the most honest way of putting it.
Your best bet for the external video adapter is eBay or some Mac classifieds site, or a Google search, and connecting to an external display is really the only way to know if it boots properly.

2 clicks: launch iTunes, play.
You can buy the program Keyboard Maestro which start iTunes with a single keypress or automatically at a time of day.

Hmm... maybe you'd like to tell him how he's going to do any of that without a screen?

Thanks for the info guys. I jsut ordered that stupid little mini dvi cable. If this thing boots fine and I like it, might jsut order a replacement screen.
