Re: Emo Discussions
I found a new band on the iTMS that I really liked called Architecture in Helsinki. So I bought In Case We Die, and it's really good. So scattered though, it's not like an album, more like a collection of good songs. An 8-person band with lots of variety in sound, you should check them out!

Re: Emo Discussions
sounds like He Is Legend or Gym Class heros. Both of whom I'm seeing on Friday.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
+Emery and As Cities Burn = one awesome show
EDIT: actually, it sounds nothing like those bands. More like Arcade Fire. But I just wanted to throw out the fact that I get to see one awesome concert.

I heart Arcade Fire, but Death Cab is as close as I get to emo.
Also, your mom does truly suck.

Re: Emo Discussions
I saw As Cities Burn, Gym Class Heroes, He Is Legend, and Emery. Wow. That show was smurfing awesome. As Cities Burn impressed me a lot. They re-minded me of a harder UnderOath without synths. Gym Class Heroes is a band that EVERY SINGLE indie rap, indie rock, and emo fan must hear. They use all natural instruments (read: electric guitar and bass and a drum set) to create rap music. The lyrics are sooooo good. He Is Legend and Emery I should not have to say anything about. He Is Legend played a strange sort of new breakdown at the end of I Am Hollywood that was actually awesome. My only complaint is that they did not play Do You Think I'm Pretty but whatever. Both Emery and He Is Legend rocked hard as ever, so it was all good.

Re: Emo Discussions
Emery is so hard to figure out sometimes, I think they can't decide what they want to be as a band, but it sounds like they play a great live show. That's awesome.
I'm seeing Lovedrug, Gatsby's American Dream, and Matchbook Romance, but chiefly Lovedrug this Wednesday. It should be amazing. Lovedrug is such a quiet band most of the time, but I saw them in Columbus once and they were unbelievable...

Re: Emo Discussions
I was in the proverbial dog house for some grade related issues, so I had to go home early, but I caught the start of Emery's set. They were very energetic on stage. Not as energetic as He Is Legend, but not bad. I liked their live stuff a lot more then the studio stuff I have of theirs. Also, strangely enough, there wasn't much of a pit for Emery. He Is Legend, on the other hand, had a huge huge huge hardcore pit in the middle, and a good ole mosh pit in the front.
God, it was such an incredible show.

Re: Emo Discussions
Last night I saw Lovedrug, Gatsby's American Dream, Matchbook Romance, and Armor for Sleep. Not a bad show! We came at like 6:40 thinking that even though the doors opened at 6:30, the show wouldn't start until 7ish. Well, Gatsby's American Dream was already halfway through their set! What we saw though was really good. The vocalist really likes to have fun, and they were exciting to watch. Next was Lovedrug, the band I came for. They were AMAZING of course, but not as good as the last time I saw them. The venue is too big for a band like Lovedrug. Because of the nature of their music, they were not much of a crowd favorite, but they play so well together, very good sound, that I think they were the best of the night.
I didn't see much of Armor For Sleep, but my friend said they were amazing. He came for them, and was very impressed. Matchbook Romance played next. They played well, with so much intensity, it was great. But their music kinda sucks: bad lyrics, repetitive sounds, they sound very generic at times. Still, they played well.

You should have stayed for Armor. They were really good live when I saw them.
I stayed, I was just sitting down over in a corner. We stood up occasionally, but I wasn't really into it. Lovedrug was draining, as sad as that sounds.
But ok, look at this lineup the first 2 weeks of December:
www.cincinnatishows.com
2 - Motion City Soundtrack, Rise Against (great live), and unfortunately Coheed
7 - From Autumn To Ashes + EMERY
8 - Norma Jean, As I Lay Dying
10 - Hawthorne Heights, Silverstein
and later...
17 - All American Rejects
So if I miraculously come up with $125 to be able to go to all of these, I will be deaf by Christmas!
I will probably only go to the Norma Jean and As I Lay Dying show because we already have tickets, and I'd go to see Emery and FATA again, but a back-to-back would not be allowed by my parents. Oh well, at least Cincinnati gets some decent bands to visit. Unfortunately they are all at the same time

Re: Emo Discussions
if you have the dough, I'd do the Motion City/ Rise Against. I've really taken a liking to Motion City recently. It's kind of like dance-emo. And some of their early stuff was really good.
The next show I'm looking at is UnderOath/The Chariot/Mewithoutyou/As Cities Burn in mid december. *creams pants*
Unfortunately, I've got a basketball game that night at like 7:30 and the show starts at 7. I'll at least get to see The Chariot and UnderOath. Though, I would not mind seeing As Cities Burn again

Wow, I didn't know they were touring. You gotta see mewithoutYou, my friends who saw them here were really impressed. It's worth skipping basketball for hehe.
That's going to be one crazy show though...

Re: Emo Discussions
yeah. If I were still playing JV, I would come down with a certain 'Illness' or perhaps have some 'obligations,' but I'm currently one of three star players so I can't really skip.
They aren't touring really, there doing 6 charity shows. It's 12 dollars for tickets, and all money made go to different charities for each show. They chose 6 of their favorite venues to play at, and RocketTown was one of them. I'm so psyched.
I think they are going into the studio after Christmas.
