Yeah, are x86 macs going to be released between now and 2006 or 2006 and 2007?
The latter. Did I miss a funny at this late hour?

Same BS was stated when they switched to the PowerPC from the 68K AND when they switched to OS X from OS 9. Jeez.

I got my new Powerbook just two days ago.
I'd find a way to send it back. I wish I could send mine back now. Along with my airport extreme, express, and shuffle.
I hope Apple goes out of business at this point. Seriously! This new hardware better be something unbelievable, I think they'll need it to save themselves.
However, I say that as an Apple loyalist, not as generic consumer who wants an apple because it's a trendy computer.
I'll really flip if OSX is released for the generic PC.
Jeez. You got some real heavy support for Apple Computer, Inc. don't you? As a self-proclaimed "loyalist" you, ..."hope Apple goes out of business at this poinit..." I would hate to see your additude for things you don't support.

Shut the heck up, fanbitches. "Apple is dead"... quit yer whining. I'm glad that Intel is with Apple now... because now I won't have to hear you complaints about wanting a PowerBook G5. Well guess what? THERE WON'T BE ONE!
I can't wait! This is a very exciting time. Apple knows what they're doing and it's a happy thing that no longer do they have to put up with IBM's dawdling. I want to see the new designs they have in mind for the next generation! Should be pretty rad.
THANK YOU Smeghead. At least some folks can see past their PowerPC elitest BS towards the future.

Oh come on - don't be so dark!
Look at NeXT - they transitioned from m68k to x86 and ...
wait, bad example.
OK - look at BeOS - they transitioned from PPC to x86 and ...
wait, bad example.
Damn, who turned out the lights?
Those products/companies also weren't sitting on a 7 billion dollar bankroll and were in REALLY BAD shape when they did the switch.
Also, Next was in bad shape. They didn't continue to make computers by switching the proc to a 486 chip. The instead ceased making the Next Computer and instead ported the entire OS to the x86 line...callling it Next 486 (or something like that).
BeOS was always software only. It didn't have much suppport on either the PPC or x86 side.
Your comparisons doesn't hold water.

It was still called NeXTSTEP, later OpenStep, and it ran on M68K, x86, SPARC and HP-PA. NeXT didn't do all that bad, considering they took over Apple and let Apple pay them for the privilege.
BeOS was always software only.
Um, no. Ever heard of the BeBox? Google is your friend.

It really is a personal issue with me. It has a lot to do with the reasons I stopped using windows and Intel in my home. I haven't owned a computer that uses an Intel CPU since the early 90's.
I enjoy using and Apple computer because it's different. It's a different experience, and has been enjoyable. The switch to Intel CPU's takes a bit of that uniqueness away. I find it hard to see the difference between an Apple machine using an Intel Processor and a standard PC. It's more of a feeling than anything else, I never see the processor, I don't write software.
On a business scale maybe the switch to Intel makes sense. But on a personal level for me, someone who purchased a Mac because it isn't what everyone else owns, it's a real disappointment.
If only there were Linux drivers for the Airport Extreme, I would have already started to switch.

Hey Guys,
You gotta remember that Intel is an innocent chip chip manufacture, that PC company's choose to use. IBM actually makes computers!

Hey now, I started this thread saying that I am happy with my purchase, and I am willing to stick with Apple into the future. Apple knows what they're doing. As long as they keep making kick-ass equipment, and software to run on it, I'll be loyal.
