Not sure what to think. I knew it was going to happen, I just hope it doesn't suck.

My money is on it sucking...
But my money is also on me going to see it in theaters twice, and buying it the day it comes out on DVD...

Re: Halo at the movies
Long odds a Halo movie could be any good. I'd prefer it remain a game rather than to put out some half-assed 'vision' for the public to get its Halo impressions from. "No, really, it's not like that..."
Aargh. Peter Jackson and Stanley Kubrick being unavailable, I hope this doesn't happen.

Re: Halo at the movies
movies based on video games always turn out lame. i will only go see this movie if it is rated R and full of gory violence.

Re: Halo at the movies
What if it wasn't just a re-watching of the game and was something based on the novels? That'd be pretty neat I think. If it wasn't doomed to fail.

Re: Halo at the movies
Considering that the article gives the impression that the script is already written, and had to be approved by Bungie before it could be pushed for production, I'd say that it should at least be worth watching. Bungie wouldn't approve crap. I refuse to believe Bungie would approve crap.

Re: Halo at the movies
I was hoping they would do something like this. I have liked many of the movies based on games (Resident Evil comes to mind, also Final Fantasy), but many have also sucked (House of the Dead anyone?). I hope and pray that the movie will at least be good, if not awesome. :crosses fingers and hopes the movie won't suck:

From the Seattle Times:
"Microsoft is expected to make an announcement next week about the deal it has struck with Hollywood to make a movie based on the "Halo" video-game series.
The company caused a stir in Hollywood with its demands of upfront money and creative control over the movie, according to news reports.
Reuters said Microsoft first wanted $10 million and 15 percent of initial box-office sales but settled with Universal Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox on a deal for a $5 million upfront payment and 10 percent of the box office. The movie is expected to be released in 2007."

Re: Halo at the movies
My thoughts are that, with MS' demands and the writer's creds, it's shaping up better than I expected. Might defy the odds and be good.

I really hope that a Halo movie is produced. My question is will it be animated or standard? hmmm

They could make it like the Final Fantasy movie was, all CG. That would be easier to do the Covenant and MC as opposed to live actors. The FF movie was hard to tell from live action in most parts. If you work with the stuff all the time you could probably see the difference, but for the casual movie viewer, it was VERY realistic.
