Pics of a Power Mac with Intel inside
These pics were taken at the WWDC with a camera phone, showing an aluminum Power Mac case with the Pentium 4 in it.

Hmmm, lots of space for harddrives and stuff when there's no need for humongous coolingtower-like heatsinks. This could mean that the box gets smaller though.
Now, where in the name of... did I put that thing that I forgot what it was and why I was looking for it?

Guys, remember that this is a dev box. Supposedly there isn't even a graphics card in it. This will never be a product.

Looking at the picture there seems to be a video card, dual channel ram. Can't tell what type of video card becuase the quaility sucks and you can only see the bottom.

That is probably just a generic Intel mb/cpu (wintel) setup stick in a PM case with modify power plug!
If Mactel is suppose to shipped June 06, I doubt there is any real Apple version even in beta form yet!
However if the current testing/beta X for Intel ever get leak out, that would be real interesting!

You know what I was thinking today? I was thinking that Jobs is promising new Intel boxes in a year and total turn around by 2007. Why would he tell us this now? He knows this is going to kill current G5 (and all other hardware) sales. Perhaps he is saying a year, but then he'll turn around and have new ones ready in 6 months? Something...
Laptops sure are due for an upgrade...
What would you do if I sang out of tune? Would you laugh and then beat me to a pulp?

Agree, Laptop is most in need for upgrade and probably will be the first line to switch! (both in pure performance/battery usage-management comparing P-M to G4)
I think Steve/apple is holding out and trying to give a bit more time for the sw developer before the rollout!

This was announced mainly so when the comps do come out we won't be running everything under emulation (which would seriously suck). But yeah, I could see laptops and their G4 desktops going over first.

I think that was just a display unit. I don't know why they would remove the hard drives though. Anyway, they are pretty much hack jobs. They are meant to help developers, nothing more.

I am sure the first thing they did after finishing the demo is take out the Harddrive... I mean it does have the beta version of Mac OS X for intel CPU's on it, I doubt they would want that to leak out. Better safe than sorry

Umm, there are functional units that some developers can mess around on. Apparently they had WoW up and running.

Yes - but those are distributed under NDA and quite possibly have binary tracers in them (IE the OS X you get has a binary serial number in the kernel, or something, so that any leaks - they know who to sue)
Were the hard drive from the display unit stolen - who would you file lawsuit against?

Yeah. I was pointing out that some of the units there had hard drives. The display/look at the insides unit doesn't for good reason.

Yeah the dev version has "Intel GMA 900 integrated graphics chip set which supports Quartz Extreme" (Link) And apparently you can upgrade to a video card if you get drivers.

No, it won't. The Mac Mini is a good size smaller than that. What you see there is a micro-ATX board, and judging by the specs it's an Intel D945GTP board. Bog-standard P4 reference design.
