I think I registered my nick long time ago (maybe 2 yrs ago) — it asked me to enter a password and I did. I don't remember if I requested to register. And now when I connect to freenode (if it gets through), it'll my for my password. Of course, I forgot. What to do?
I think after 60 or 90 days being dormant, the nick's up for grabs. You can message one of the freenode guys and ask.

Re: MacAddict forums chat
How do I get help from the network staff? Just enter the command:
/stats p
from within your IRC client. You'll be provided a current list of on-call freenode staffers. Feel free to message one or more staffers as necessary until you find someone who can help you. Not all freenode staffers are listed; please use this list as your indication of current availability.
you can talk to any of them about getting the nick dropped. or you can go into #freenode and ask for help.

You have to have voice to talk in #freenode, so it may take a few minutes for an op to see that there's unvoiced people and grant you voice, so just be patient. Of course, you could donate to freenode and get an awesome cloak and automatic voice in #freenode.

This is just a bump to invite anyone who has ever thought about joining in to come check out the channel. We'd love some new faces! Stop in and say hi!

Re: MacAddict forums chat
Following Justine's advice, I've got myself ircle. But which network do I use to get to the MacAddict server? My eyes started to swim when I tried scrolling around to find it myself.
Thanks and see you there!

Re: MacAddict forums chat
Thanks for your reply but there is a whole long list of ir. blah blah blah to look through. To shorten the search I need to know what the network is, for instance...DALnet, EFnet, IRCnet
Sorry to be such a pain about this!

Re: MacAddict forums chat
Create a new network, call it Freenode and then add irc.freenode.net as a server under Freenode.
You know, what beebee said.

irc.freenode.net is under attack today, so if you want to connect, use a specific server or maybe irc.us.freenode.net instead.

Yeah, nuisancebot infestation. I guess they're suggesting people use chat.freenode.net

flash doesnt like to work for me a lot of the time tho... java's the better option
its not that hard to set up an irc client and someone is actually working on an app for the channel which will make life easy for people who wanna check out our little home.
We've had a couple of new people comming in the past day or two which is always nice

Where's the lazy bum that made MAFirc.app? That thing hasn't been updated in ages.

Re: MacAddict forums chat
i'd recommend X-Chat Aqua for OS X, or eIRC (see the link in my above post for eIRC) for the classic OSs (there is an OS X version of eIRC, but, X-Chat Aqua is by far the best client).

Yes. It took me several trys to connect. I still can't connect from home at all, but that's related to my other issues.
Everybody else! If you can get on, stop in and say hello! It's been awhile since we've seen many new faces.
